Suggestions for Ducati

Help Support Ducati Forum:

With all due respect, This is why I'm waiting for the 2013 1199.

I have a lot of pilot friends and they all agree;

"Never fly the 'A' model of anything." — Ed Thompson

If the love affair does not last mine will be sold in DEC! So far Im happy with the bike.

My only suggestion is advertising true HP and TQ numbers with proven results and posted results so that all this junk that comes out about Dyno readings now do not make so many buyers think twice before buying including me. Lots of chatter about true HP and TQ versus what's being advertised. Any idea where I can find actual proven statistics? Or something that shows the 195 advertised HP or improved TQ? I want the creme de la creme and the advertised specs look fantastic but am freaking about a bike that does not live up to something Ducati said it would. Thoughts?

From what I have read and heard from talking to people, the out of the box HP is not as advertised. With some extra cash you can get there but I am somewhat dissapointed at Ducati. A good business practice is to under promise and to over deliver, not the other way around. Don't get me wrong, I love my Ducs and enjoy the heck out of them....was hoping for a bigger splash :(

So are you 1199 owners still thinking this is an amazing bike or if you had of known all of the above before you ordered it would you wait for the next version??

Still amazing.

1) The UI changes will come as software updates, I have no doubt.

2) Nothing else listed is anymore eyebrow raising than any other offering from any other manufacturer (save Aprilia, will never buy another).

3) For a Ducati, its less quirky than its predecessors I've owned, while being on another performance plane.

As for next versions, I'm an early adopter through and through. If I want to upgrade, I'll always have that option, while still having had the privilege of riding my Tric from day-1 :)

+1 - Half the fun of getting something new is it being NEW! I've been a first adopted many times and the thrill of having the newest toy has always out weighed any negatives that came with it. Expensive, exotic motorcycles were never meant to be carefully calculated, patient, logical purchases. Save that for your home appliances.....;)

DNA needs to grow some balls so they can give us reliable information and updates from the factory. They also need to learn the value of good communication.

I routinely cancel my indicators a few times after a turn just to insure they are off. This wouldn't work well for me. Maybe somewhere else or like 4 clicks of the button.

In-order to accomodate excessive clicking or canceling of turn-indicators by the rider (is a good thing to not give false turn intention to other road users), i would prefer ride mode to be change if the user press and hold the same button there for more than 3 seconds filter time.Or maybe let this filter time (3s,4s,5s) be have some pre-set option to the user.:D.

is not rocket science , user friendliness is just plain common sense don't see why can't Ducati electronics department can't get it...

One more...

I'd like to be able to program the shift lights. Two settings please, base rpm and the increment for each extra light, in rpm.

The soft paint issue bothers me...I'm hoping they caught this early. The clutch issue bothers me more. This will be my first duc...a base.

1. Make an add-on sat-nav that uses the GPS from the DDA+ and the existing screen. I'd pay for it.
2. Use better clear coat when painting the bikes.
3. Make accessing ride mode on the move a double click of the left handlebar button (the one that cancels the indicators)
4. Very minor, buy damp down the update rate of the rev counter bar, it's a bit too precise and is constantly flickering between values on a constant throttle.
5. Allow custom ride modes in addition the the standard three. Three more that I can name as I please should do it.
6. Deliver new bikes with suspension set to P.
7. Change the low fuel trip to show miles/km remaining, not ridden. Better still add a real fuel gauge - plenty of room on the display.
8. Add something to damp the vibration of the right mirror.
9. Include the mirror hole blanking plates you used on the bikes at the NEC show in November. I'd much rather have these than the aero kit.
10. I know you want me to buy the Ducati DP rearsets, but make the standard footpegs a bit more knurled and grippy. They are way too smooth.
11. Make a proper carbon tank protector like the Truimph Daytona one. The carbon effect stick-on is pants.
12. Add a clear window or ever a hole to the right faring so this I don't need a torch to check the oil level. Maybe a small LED light that shines on the oil window?
13. There is no thirteen.
14. An official LiPo battery option?
15. Electronic tyre pressure monitoring?

These are all road oriented. I'm sure I'll have more once I've tracked the bike.

Ducati, do you actually read this forum??? If so, no harm in making yourself known!

I pretty much agree with all of these! And they are, well most, easily doable for Ducati....

Shame I get a funny feeling that Ducati don't look at these forums and certainly don't pay any attention too them, as unfortunately too many people that are wannabes rather than doabes on it... However if you can work out who they are and sift thro that stuff, there is some awesome info and advice on here!

PLEASE ALSO ADD

16. Have the option to change clock to 24 hr format.
