So this was discussed a lot in the early days of ownership by many but I wanted to see if anyone who was riding on the road and doing periodic track days had kept their suspension linkage on F?

Also if you are running F, do you change anything between the road and the track?

I'm determined to get better at the track and I want every advantage I can get from the bike.

Thanks in advance.

Bought mine a month ago and left her on F. I ride mostly mountain roads with guys that like to travel at a good pace and I'm OK with the factory settings so far.
I'm currently reading up on suspension settings for a 75 kg guy so I can tweak things to work even better for me (seat height, sag, rebound etc.)
Haven't done any track riding yet but can't see myself switching to P.

Keep mine in F all the time...
I have track DES settings in race and sport modes (playing with two combinations) and wet is more road compliant but with 195HI.

No point switching between F and P, you need to learn how the bike feels in F if your interested in better track riding IMO.

Agreed;)

I think you will find that with the suspension set in F, it has the equivalent effect of fitting the accessory DP shock mount that was brought out for the 1098/1198.
DUCATI designate it as being for "track use only"

If you have the suspension link set in P, it's the same as the road ready standard shock mount on the 1098/1198.

That's the clue as to what's appropriate for a street set up as opposed to track set up. Besides switching it around is a pain in the ass:D
Just settle on a track configuration and knock yourself out.

Cheers

F only for my bike. Straight rates springs and as close as I can get to linear linkages on everything I've owned for about 25 years.

When you care about feel, progressives are difficult to justify. If you care about adaptability of one setup over a wide variety of loadings and conditions, progressive makes sense.

Whatever works best for you!

Still on F. To be fair I have not tried P, but I don't carry passengers. I found suspension settings that I like so I don't think I will be changing.

Thanks guys, I had no idea so many peeps were still running F after the out-cry at the beginning!

F for me! Not caring any passengers to slow me down. Never switched to P cause I thought it was more for passengers and my understanding is that the suspension would be stiffer due to the nature of being progressive.

I just had the sag and settings set up for my weight and its feeling good on the street. Now I need to test the settings on the track.

I have had the bike on F since I bought it. I have not tried the P setting as I will never have a passenger on this bike. I am finally happy with my suspension settings so there is no plan to try P.

F here. P is for P.... well...you know. Its a racing bike to be sure. If I have to carry a passenger, then I'll have to take it easy as to not upset the bike, hehe.

I have tried both modes and see very little difference. Keep in mind I do not do track days, and I understand that if I did I might feel some difference. It does seem like the P mode rides a little better, and I see no difference in handling. Whatever difference you are looking for, comfort or handling, I think that for street riding the differences are extremely subtle. BTW, I do not ride with a passenger.
