installed shift-tech subframe covers a few days ago
and i wrapped my exhaust
today i was going to purchase a carbon fiber heat shield ($408) from pro italia and cylinder head covers from shift-tech ($400 - one month back order)
but when i arrived to pick up the shield, we found out it would not fit my exhaust - it was an upgraded version for the full termi system
master mechanic also tells me that a carbon fiber shield does exist for my bike, that is the same size as the oem, but that it wouldn't help or make any difference with heat
however, he tells me that they were giving out upgraded/modified heat shield kits back when the bike first released, since so many people were complaining..
parts specialist looks through inventory and they just happened to have one left!
i don't know if they were free when the bike first released, but even still, the kits only run $200!
looks like the shield has three layers of metal, instead of one
so, just wanted to share how great it was not to have to spend $800 today or wait a month for parts
