What would cause it to back out? Also can I just take pressure off the swing arm and tighten it back up?

make sure that pinch bolt right there is tight after you tighten the swingarm bolt back up. You'll need a long 10mm hex socket for the swingarm bolt..

That's the deal. It was tight beforehand. I just happened to notice the pin sticking out and loosened the pinch bolt to tighten it. Problem is it doesn't tighten so easily. Something doesn't seem right. I can only turn it about a half inch in either direction. Then it seems to bind. I'm hoping they didn't jack it up at the dealership. They are the only ones that could have or would have messed with it.

This happened to Wanderlust at the track this weekend.. What I found when fixing it was that the pinch bolt became loose.. I jacked the bike up by the exhaust cans and made sure it was all aligned then torqued it back and torqued down the pinch bolt.. he said it was good to go after that.. keep an eye on it and loctite the pinch bolt .. the bike should be raised when doing so..

Did you actually ride it with the axle in that position? If you did and it now will not rotate, you may have screwed up the threads in the engine case. That would suck. These are torqued pretty tight then have the added retention of the friction clamp assembly. How in the heck does that get loose?

Funny...the exact same thing happened to me this past weekend...never heard of it happening before. Can't thank b9009b and zohsix enough for all the help. I think it was a 10mm Hex with a long extension...good luck man!

Weird. I'm not using the stock axles so I know they were torqued correctly. I wonder if maybe on some bikes the axles were not tightened to spec at the factory. That would also mean that the friction clamp was not retaining the rotation either which is weird as that is a bearing assembly with little in the way of rotational force.
