Ordering the DP part today!

I was initially on the fence, since I'd never seen an 1199 in the flesh, but the bike surprised me by looking quite big, so no issue chopping this off :p

It's expensive, for a tail tidy ($329 list)! But so far I've gone for all DP parts on this bike (which I don't have yet), and it uses the OEM turn signals. I'm getting a break from my dealer on the price on anything I order for the bike through (not huge, but it helps, especially for the Termi cans), plus no tax.

Here is the DP tail tidy fitted today on a Tricolre.
Sorry picture quality not that good.
I would say it`s much much nicer than the aftermarket items I`ve seen so far.

I modified mine, I couldn't look at that awful hanger any longer and my randg one is in back order. 20 minute job and looks o.k.;)

By the way, mine doesn't smoke and never has done although the looking glass has been misleading. Mines now run in and I'm riding it round Almeria so I'll report back on what it's like.

thats clean bro, how'd you modify it? more detailed pics plz :)

My bike is on its way to almeria and wont be back until mid may otherwise i would. All you need is a dremmel or craft saw. Remove the hanger by undoing the 4 screws inside the storage section and 3 screws underneath. Once removed, youll see where the long part of the hanger joins the lighting unit. This is where you cut making sure you leave the one screw hole and mind you dont snag the cables.
Replace the large cap with the 4 screws from inside the seat unit.
Where you have left the part of the original hanger with screw hole screw the unit back in loosely.
then you drill a very small pilot hole from the centre of the lighting unit and slowly drive it through both parts minding the cables. take one of the original unused 3 screws and screw it in. voila!

Seriously that DP tail tidy is massive! And puts the number plate at a funny angle by the looks of it? I was a bit dubious about getting the R&G one but now it's here and looking at those images glad I made the right decision, and as for the people that were saying the R&G one is ugly or not well mate, after looking at the DP one, it looks just as well made (obviously without the carbon) and a darn side smaller! At half the price! It's a no brainer. The only added benefit from the DP one is that it can be removed for track days, so depends how many of those you do to warrant having a just as big tail tidy as the original.

Made my own using the original hanger. I cut it down but only using the section that bolts through the seat unit.

I'll post up pics tomorrow......

I'm sure you'll let me know what you think..!

Tail tidy is a personal choice...
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Which is why everyone fits different modifications to their bike.

I have ordered the DP one my mate ordered the R&G item, each to their own;)

I'll most likely make my own, and grab a couple Rizoma indicators for good measure...although i was thinking that it might be possible to make a slick led signal that would hide in the vents under the tail lights...

Hi Guys

Some pics of my home made TT. No cost to make.

No turn signals as waiting for an integrated tail light to be made by someone.!

Just finished making rad guards. total cost so far for the anodised grill £20.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers. Off to the pub now........ (Walking!!)

Hi Rocky.

Yep. Got the mesh from local hardware superstore (B&Q)

I measured the apertures of each rad then made template from card.
I then finessed the shape on the card to get a snug fit and made the pattern in more durable cardboard. Laid it on top of mesh then added 8mm or so to each edge. I then folded the mesh around the template( 90 degree to front edge) and trimmed the return edges to the desired depth. Popped the lower one in to test fit and again finessed where needed.
Look at the lower rad pic and you'll see st/steel lockwire going from one side to t'other. It holds the mesh in position.

Top grill is a lot easier. just measure the width (36.5cm sounds correct) depth 15cm and add 10mm all round. Fold the 10 mm back on itself. this gives a little clearance gap between mesh and rad. Its a very snug fit so no need to secure with anything. Can't drop out because of the plastic rad shroud.

Look closely at the pic and you'll see what I mean.
