Team Althea retires Panigale from wstk championship

BTW The Effenbert Liberty team already retired Panigale from wstk for the same problems.

Uhm

I've to take my 1199 s abs next week.... no matter as it is no competitive, i worry about the engine failures...

Thank goodness mine is only going to be a commuter ;)

I wonder how many blown engines they had before deciding to call it a day? Being a race team I would have thought it would be in their DNA to work out the cause of blown engines.
It would've have been nice if the article went on to say where the 1199 wasn't "competitive"
The other 1199s don't appear to be doing too badly.. no wins yet, but podium finishes aren't too bad.

Thing is, arent those running superstock kits? What does that entail? Bumped compression/headwork? I'm thinking blown race motors may not directly affect the road machines, even on the track.

Hmmm - now THIS is somewhat disconcerting, with or without the five year warranty!

I would also like to know the cause and at what point in the bikes' racing lives were they retired - after five laps, five races or five thousand Kilometers?

PannyofDoom, I certainly hope your name is not prophetic.

"panigale wins first race at monza"!

might be worth noting that Lorenzo Savadori riding for the Barni Racing Team Italia won the first race for the Panigale in World Superstocks at Monza on the 6/5/2012 completely blitzing the opposition including BMW RR's ! The Ducati Panigales now hold first and third positions in this championship, just the beginning i feel for this fantastic bike

Unless you're running a world class race team, it won't make any difference to the average rider on a road legal bike.

Reading the full article (posted above) gives a completely different perspective on their decision to quit

Shhhhhhhh! The Panigale haters also hate facts.

And Frosty and Wally made good points too.

The Superstock series is a good barometer of the capabilities of a close to stock bike, iirc. I'll check the FIM rules soon just to verify what mods are legal, but I don't think it's a long list.

Ahh. A different story than what the lead-in to this thread had me thinking.

As always, there is more to the story...

Thanks. I will endeavor to read more before posting, but appreciate the breadth of awareness this list provides.

Yes guys dont panic!! (One of the first things you learn when being on the track .. by the way LOL) The Panigale just won its first race the other wknd in FIM Suprstock and they were about to win the wknd before, if not for the red flag. Also, none of us will ever push these bikes to the degree that these racers and race teams can (well most of us) ... so relax and enjoy your bike. For those lucky of us, that have their bikes already .. that is ... :)
