termignoni's

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I will go with Termignoni full system, it sounds really nice and it covers under warranty for 2 years.

Warranty work after mods

I put an aftermarket slip-on on my 1198, and subsequently experienced the gas tank swelling issue and leaky radiator that a lot of us 1198 owners had (to be clear I'm not implying the aftermarket parts had anything to do with either of those issues). The dealership didn't say anything about having non-OEM parts on my bike, and fixed both issues with nothing out of my pocket, it was a good experience actually. The warranty was set to expire in about 30 days when I hauled the bike the dealership for the work, so I feel confident in Ducati / and at least Barnett Ducati Suzuki standing behind their product, even with non-Termi stuff. Although for the record, on the 1199 I plan on going Termi because it comes with the USB map. My 1198 had a major flat spot between 4k-5k rpm with aftermarket slip-on and no flash or chip.

it will be intresting to see what exhaust they put on the bsb racing bike which they have just got in coventry

I would be surprised if it was not a Termi system, at least to start with, considering that no one else has had the bike long enough to develop a completely new system. Quality exhaust companies, like Akrapovic, will spend a fair bit of time in the R&D to try to offer a little something over the Termi system. Worst case, they will have to ensure they at least match Termi's performance specs.

I was going to resist the urge to put an aftermarket exhaust on until I saw that Austin Racing will be producing one. Their products for the RSV4 are amazing (sound, power, price) and are definitely worth consideration.

termis

i ordered end cans ,comfort seat carbon hugger and tank pad all in £1600 quid happy with that

After having owned 4 Ducati's over the past 5 years, I am planning on getting an 1199 but for at least 1 year I wont buy any aftermarket exhaust. I want to see how this whole USB remap thing works out for them first. But besides that, I am SURE that this bike is going to have issues and bugs to work out as it is a complete clean sheet design. On my 1198 I never changed the exhaust, left it stock, and interestingly I never had any issues with the motor not running right, or having flat spots in the powerband, or any stalling issues at all.
With the 1199 I also think that there is less of a reason to change exhausts than with the underseat design bikes like the 1198. On those bikes the exhaust is a major design feature whose looks impact the bike to a large degree.. You can't really see much of the exhaust on the 1199, and to me the Termi's dont look different enough from the stock exhaust to be worth the ridiculous prices they ask for an inferior product. Yes, I believe Termignoni exhausts are inferior products compared to say, Akrapovic or Leo Vince, and I think most people would agree. For a while at least, I will be happy with the stock exhaust, the money I would spend on it would be better spent on track days and tires.

Is anyone thinking about ceramic coating or wrapping their termis pipes? I can't decide if I should use titanium exhaust wrap, ceramic coat them, or just leave them alone?

I too think that the Termi slip-on is too expensive for what it does (weight/performance boost). I'm going standard for 6 months until its clearer what is the best option is. I might consider the Termi's (should that be plural for a single end can?) if it becomes apparent the bike rides much better with them and a remap. If you're buying the termi's for bling factor, everyone is going to be too busy drooling at the sight of your Panigale to get on there knees and notice the termi badge.

Ive heard some people wrapping their exhaust but never really understood why? Care to explain?

Wrapping your exhaust not only dramatically decreases the heat that comes off the pipes, but also keeps the gases inside of the exhaust hotter which allows the gases to move easier creating a small performance increase. I am not concerned with the performance increase I just don't want my butt to melt off in traffic and don't want my pipes looking ugly after a few heat cycles.

you don't have to worry about them looking ugly after a few heat cycles - you already ensured that with the wrap

O that was a real knee slapper... That's why I asked about ceramic coating in my original post ;)

Very nice Wall, may I ask what the ballpark cost is for a set of headers?

Hi Xbox....Not 100% sure yet, but I think about $1800 AUD and I cant get a price on the coating until they see the Headers.
I am hoping they will arrive soon so I can get them done before I get the bike.

I was a bit disappointed with the sound of the Termis vs Stock, the stock were so loud that it was really just a change of tone. Did rid it of the stupid flat spot and 'cut-out' that happened when going through town, definitely better performance. Worth 14% of the price of the bike? Did it make it 14% better. Ye I reckon so :)
