Nothing wrong in that, give them a chance to renegotiate, they want to sell it as much as anything, especially with Winter approaching.

Maybe offer a slight compromise on that $400 difference, offer them $150.

If you get the bike, it's a win win form both of you.

Lol, what?!!!

The dealership needs to forget the $400 and take MORE off the price....

At least that's what it would take for me to go back.

i agree %1000. They've agreed to take off that $400 but that $400 shouldn't have even been an issue to begin with bc it was already agreed that it would be included in the final price lol

Wait for them to contact you again (they will) and they will ask you what it takes for you to come back. You tell them you will give them the same check but now they need to throw in a helmet or jacket something (choose something around $250 retail). Then you're good to go.

You spent $3400 on what? Man there's a sucker born every minute. I WISH a dealership employeee told me I couldn't change my own oil I'd laugh in his face while pulling up the great 1975 magnuson moss warranty act.

You missed a very important part of his post lol

im about to give up on the 1199 and go with the 959.. im sure im in the wrong place to ask this question but, what do you guys think? LOL

Depends on what youre coming from and what you expect out of the bike. The 959 is a nice bike but if youre coming from a newer liter bike and are expecting close to the same power you might be let down. All the non Duc guys i talk to all think the 959 has the same hp as a liter bike because the cc's are close lol It also doesnt have the SS swingarm so thats a deal breaker right there.

Amazing that the finance guy would act like that. I 100% would walk out the door if this happened regardless of how good everything else was. You've got a guy in a senior position who is obviously not reasonable or of good judgement. First problem you have and you'll not be supported because of the bad attitude of the senior employee.

Trust me, the finance guys are not there to just sign papers. They really are sales guys at the end of the day and they have the most leverage because by the time you get to them your guards down because you think the sales game is over and you're also happier than .... because you're literally signatures away from your new baby lol The problem is in between those signatures is finance rates, warranties and a .... load of other add ons and this is where the stealers really make their money. Id bet most finance guys started out as regular sales but because they were so good they got promoted:D

Agreed

It's pretty clear the consensus is that the dealership should bring the price down but i also believe it has to be within reason. So what are you guys thinking? It's a $15,500 bike without the 400 they tried to charge me. And for the guys who are pro negotiators how would you approach this?

Please don't take this the wrong way but no one can tell you how to do something that's not in your nature. Someone can tell you how to negotiate this every step of the way with who to call, when to call, what to say, etc. and when you do it, it will only come across as phony and game playing and not only hurt your cause but make you feel uncomfortable the entire time.

A transaction is nothing more than both sides reaching a mutually agreeable point and making trade. It will never get there if one side feels like the other is being disingenuous and trying to take advantage of them.

Those guys want to make a sale. I'm sure that they're thinking every day that they had this one in the bag and they don't want to see it go away. Dude, you gave them a full price offer. Think that comes along every day? Think again. If the dealership owner and manager are worth their salt they would be calling you every day.

You're right, im just going to offer what i believe to be fair for both parties and see where it goes from there.

It depends on what is more important, the ego of getting a super deal or owning the bike of your dreams. I read that the OP had walked away, and I totally understand that, based upon his experience with the finance manager, but was now disappointed, that he had walked away, that he didn't get the bike.

I was just trying to suggest that the deal isn't over just because he walked out. The OP does have the upper hand in this situation and I would suggest he deal directly with the manager.

Here's another thing to consider if you're not the type to do your own work on your bike...

Since your buying a brand new bike from them...you're basically starting a relationship with that dealership. Service, warranty claims, mods, etc. will probably all be done by them. I certainly would not want to have to repeatedly deal with a dealership that treated me like sh!t.

When I got my 1299S last month they tried to get me to buy the service package and The extended warranty. I declined both and she knew not to bug me again about it. Smart woman.
