The Wait Begins

G'day, I've been lurking here for a little while, but I decided last w/end to put the deposit down on a new 1299 S, so it follows that I should take the plunge into the forum too. I've never had a Duke before, but I've always wanted one. And so the wait begins.

The dealer here in Melbourne couldn't give pricing; other than to say it would be similar to the 1199 S. He also couldn't give me a delivery date except that the first bikes were expected in country in May and that if a few depositors in the list ahead of me were to drop out, then I might get 1 from that first delivery. I'm not getting too hung up on that though - experience tells me to expect a delay and be pleasantly surprised if I'm proven wrong.

So, now I have a couple of months scouring the forum to plan on my first batch of purchases/mods.

Cheers for now

Welcome - time will fly by.
he's lying... Time won't fly, it drags interminably, each second seems like a day, each minute, a year. My 1299S is due here in about 4 weeks and it might as well be 2017, or at least it feels like it...

Funny..... But what a nice reward at the end....:D

You are not kidding! I put my deposit down a month ago but it feels like 3 months!

hmm, just for the wait and the inability to hink rationally - i should probably put in an order on something new :D

Not only the inability to "HINK rationally", but the ability to spell and type, will also desert you... :D

Hahaa!!! thats so true! Thats how I feel waiting to get my bike back! :D

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. Needless to say that I'm planning to enjoy the bike when it arrive. I've been reliably informed that it'll be a little different from my current Aprilia RS250 ;-), but there comes a time in every person's life when the boy-racer thing just doesn't cut it any longer. I suppose I could grow up and get a civilised bike like a Honda, or succumb to age and get a HD (never!), but for now the Ducati seems to fit the bill perfectly. I hope I can share some info on the 1299 S with you all in the future.

Cheers, and I hope to read you all in the forum proper,
Rob

I had a November to May wait - this forum and a diecast model on my desk helped me through!
