the wait is over--maybe -----update REALLY!!!!!!

hi guys,
tomorrow could be the day for me.
my dealer, today on workshop, will tell me if the panigale s, delivered this week will be really mine. ordered november 2011 hopefully this is the end of a almost 6 month waitingtime.
would be perfect in time for the weatherchange they predict for south germany.
good bye beamer, hello panigale!

(fingers crossed)

UPDATE 18.4.
She has arrived! still in the box but ready for unpacking and adding some carbon and termis.
next week i give her the chance to breath some german air!
so exited! :D

Hi karl. me too on Pany this week... me too ordered it in November... me too have a s 1000 rr....

Did you ride the Panigale in order to make a comparison ? What has turned you to the Panigale from the Beemer ?

hi, the BMW was or is still a great work of technology for me. i like the looks, acceleration is mindblowing, always felt save in every situation. i never had a problem for 20 000 km.
but the ducati is a artwork. typical beautiful italian design which, if i had more money, would like to complete with a astonishing 458 ferrari and sell therefore my old 911. ok --- end of dream!
i am not the 4 cylinder guy or better i will prefer the ducati engine.
the sound is great and for driving on standard streets in the alpine region, which means not always over 250 kmh, this will be it.
the whole package from ducati seems outrageous.
typical ducati engine--not seen on every corner--light weight and ready for race components, hitec and tradition of a wellknown motorcyclecompany.

i couldn ´t resist.

cheers
karl

I sold my S1 also to get the 1199, just couldn't get on with it. Mind you the bmw followed the RSV4 which i loved just unreliable.
There was nothing wrong with the bmw it just isnt in the same league IMO.

After riding the BMW last year for the first time, I was truly impressed with the bike and almost bought a Motorsport livery S1KRR on the spot. What ended up happening is my local Ducati/Aprilia/MV dealer let me take an RSV4 R with a leo vince pipe out for a day long test ride.

Thats when I discovered what i have been missing the past 12 years of my life riding Japanese I-4's (and by extension the BMW I-4). It's a little thing that without any real word for it, I call soul. The Ape was just more of everything as far as my 5 senses were concerned. Sure the BMW pulled like a freight train but it was so benign and easy that I felt disconnected. The Ape just pulls you in and and everytime you twist the throttle the senses just get overwhelmed. The sound of a V4 is pure sex (almost as good as an L twin), the way the bike feels like an extension of your body when riding around town or when you're discovering just how low she'll go with stock pegs, is an uncanny feat.

Top it all off with a look that is extremely minimalist yet still unmistakably exotic and it was just a no brainer...after almost 130 miles I reluctantly returned the loaner, jumped on my CBR1000RR and was immediately struck with how much I hated the I-4 engine. The sound is flat and boring, the power delivery is flat...and boring, the bikes feel wide and are, and overall I-4 powerplants are boring. Sure the BMW is fast, but compare it side by side to a bike like the Aprilia or a Ducati and see which is more "fun" to ride, which one makes you grin like an idiot while riding, and which one do you find yourself blipping the throttle just to hear the engine...
