Flame throwing steed ha. V4 more like a diesel Cadillac. You can literally floor it and slide the clutch out. Click 2nd when shift light comes on. Try doing that on 1199R

same thing i experienced with 899 in the first 500 miles, but once the issues were resolved PHENOMENAL bike. I did say i'd never buy another Duc...and then came the V4.

Well as my link shows: yes V4 gets hot like most/ all Superbikes and any other for ultimate performance tuned combustion engine!
What do you expect? Get over it, if you really love her intended, by design, hot moves!

Besides some cheap heat remedy options I successfully tried, she's just a great ride.
Not only for the track, touring her is a great experience too, as my roadtrip testimony to the Alps shows.

All in all after almost 10.000mi/ 17.000km: she's a blast, a work of art both on track and road!
I'm soo happy I acquired her putting a smile on everybodies face when riding/ racing her.

Agreed. I live in central Texas (an hour north of COTA), so it’s ~100f from June to September. On track, the heat isn’t an issue (I’ve done several days at COTA during summer); but in traffic, it is (for me - ymmv).

For me, it’s just not enjoyable to ride the bike on the street if the temp is over 85 or so. Others might feel differently. The bike runs hotter than any other sport bike I’ve owned (even the turbo gsxr 1000).

Period, get a set of balls and deal with it, I rode 187 miles and never took a break, got stuck in some traffic and it heated up quick, I thought my thigh was on fire but then once moving it was fine again. But look at where the exhaust is, it’s right there on your thigh, then the rear cylinder is on the left side. Is what it is for me, I don’t ride when it’s 100 outside, I’ll go in the morning when the idiots are in bed and not on the road. Hope this helps.

Wait, so people that say it’s too hot to ride are ....... yet you won’t ride it in over 100 degree temp?? That’s funny

These bikes definitely get hot. My bike with aftermarket exhaust runs cooler and I heat taped the bottom of my seat which helped a bit too. However, there just isn’t that much else to do with the rear cylinder being right there. Will eventually drain coolant and switch to water + wetter to hopefully shave off a few more degrees and be good for track.
