All you track day/racers with spare tanks for your 1199 to match your bodywork or for whatever reason. What are you guys doing for gas caps so that you do not need to swap the one from the original tank back and forth?

It would appear for several aftermarket keyless gas caps they require the stock plastic base + rubber gasket to be removed from the stock gas cap. What are you guys doing to get around this without having to swap back and forth AND without having to spend hundreds of dollars for an OEM gas cap just for the stock plastic base since it isn't sold separately.

Is there a keyless gas cap out there that is a direct bolt onto the tank without the use of any stock hardware or parts?

These keyless fuel caps are all great until you lose the cap!.. I learnt the hard way

changing all the bodywork and tank , lights etc sounds like an awful lot of work for a day at the track

guess how awful lot of work and $ that is if you have to get all new stock bodywork and chit :D

worth every minute!

Mine is converted to track I just could not see myself switching out bodywork for every track day, it's just a lot of time I don't have.

But back to topic the easiest option is to get a stock tank and paint it red and don't bother switching or to strip the paint off a base tank and repaint it in the R colors, it you just do your originallly suggested and get a spare fuel pump and keyless has cap and replace everything when you go to switch out.

Good luck

:D:D:D Me too! In the first hard braking zone gas will shoot out like a fountain right up the inside of your helmet! Quite tasty, lol.

Have a spare tank, pump and cap

Hit me up for pics

Any other suggestions? Need one that does not require any stock parts.

not really any other options if you want to set your bike up for track and choose to switch the tank you will need another fuel pump etc which can be bought relatively cheaply and a lot of people sell them with the tanks.

I have a spare tank/pump already, I need a complete fuel cap that doesn't use any stock parts :)

ahh ok so you need a plastic ring to attach the after market gas cap, I'm afraid i can't help you with that but i'm sure someone on the site has a spare one.

I just ordered a Lightech 1/4 gas cap for the 1199, OPP Racing mentioned its a complete unit and doesn't need any stock parts. I have this same gas cap for my CBR 1000RR and it also didn't need any stock parts and also included the rubber gasket/o-ring (the 1199 cap also comes with this) where all the other caps out there require the stock gasket to be reused.

Once I get it I will let everyone know if it need any stock parts/hardware.

Don't know too many folks with spare tanks, at 2500$ a piece you don't order by the dozen.

I agree, Just me but I never thought of a need for a spare tank and keyless at that. Unless you are doing endurance racing for a quick splash-and-go you should be fine. But hey, I guess you can never have too many spare parts:D
