Starting to panic! I can't get a quote anywhere! The bike is due in April, I currently ride an 1198SP and pay £390. Can't understand why nobody will quote!!!! Any ideas guys???

all the insurers ive contacted (and its a few!!) have said they can give me an estimate (all around £750!! and thats with 5yrs no claims!!)
They say its because its not on the system yet and hence doesnt exist, i was told to try again in March so thats what i,l do.

Guys, I have to convince an insurer to go comprehensive for me, as 3rd party is the done thing here!!

3rd party on an 1199 FFS!!!! Do me a favour!!!!!

I have 9 years + NCB clean licence no crashes and spent a whole day trying to insure the Tri which arrived 20th April. It's the price of the parts and the overall value that's the problem. In the end the only quote was £940 from MCE that was also dropping the value to £20k their maximum. I added my 748 on and the total was £1054. I thought that was ok, I was paying £1200 last year for the 748 with an 1198s and a HD night rod special (dont ask! Since sold ...thank god!)

Try MCE.

I got a quote from MCE and Ducati insurance, Ducati was £1350 for the Tri and the R1 and MCE was £1250, but there was no mention of dropping the value to 20k, i won't be too keen on doing that tbh.

There was no option, almost all the underwriters the brokers went to either had a limit of £15k or £20k per bike. That's why I had so many refusals. Last year the three bikes I had on a single policy had a value of £35k but because none of them where in excess of £15k it was easy to insure. Like I said there was lots of talk about panel prices too esp on the Tri, apparently Ducati are charging a bomb for them, so if dropped its an expensive repair. I have to say I have never had so much hassle trying to insure a vehicle than this.

Maybe the bike is just so new they haven't assessed it correctly yet.

I'd check that MCE value. My reckoning was it probably loses £2-3k as soon as it leaves the showroom so £20k no big deal plus I simply ran out of options and the bike was arriving 24 hours later.

got some good news today as I will be getting my 1199 tricolore 6 weeks early:0)

I had the same problem with insurance today as I pick the bike up on Thursday.

Managed to get all three bikes insured with e bike for £560 4 years no claims
1199 tricolore
1200 multi pp
1098r new last year
I had to drop the tricolore to £20K or no insurance.

Looking forward to Thursday.

If anyone is still struggling with quotes, try doing GoCompare. They gave me a £500-odd quote through a company called Bike Devil (underwritten by MCE), who have no excesses (voluntary or compulsory). Worth a look, mine's a base ABS though.
Weirdly when I got a quote directly from Bike Devil's site, it was around £1300. Checked and rechecked the GoCompare quote and it seems valid. Taking up the quote when bike arrives at end of April-ish.

Rocky - were you able to take up the quote before knowing the registration number etc? If so, I'll do the same before their prices change!
