Jeff, who is the OZ supplier for this price? Agreed on first dibs. Thanks for the info.

Jim - it's Motowheels.com in California.

They have a "VIP Member" program that's around $15 a year, and you get even bigger discounts than what they list on their website. As an example, I bought their Motowheels-branded folding levers with remote adjuster and the normal price is $295 and my member price was $249. Excellent vendor and products.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see much difference between these and BSTs. Of course I'm biased, but for that money I would take 3 sets of Rotobox RBX2's (or BSTs). Actually, I would just take 2 sets and then put the $3,000 left over towards the Akra and tuning.

Hey Jim,

Search Ronin's posts for his R with Forged Aluminum Marchesinis. Search my posts for my R with Forged Magnesium Marchesinis. http://ducati1199.com/ducati-1199/16290-akrapovic-install-comparisons-termi-full-4.html#post134120

The 2 types of gold vary. The Forged Aluminum ones use a brighter and deeper gold, whereas my Forged Magnesium ones use a flatter and lighter gold. Although mine is lighter and I can feel the difference easily when riding, I do like Ronin's brighter gold better appearance-wise as it matches the forks better. But of course it's up to you.

Good luck!

zohsix01, your R model looks really amazing. Good luck on your project. Can't wait until I receive the CF air runners you sent out.

Motowheels has a pic of a 1098 in Tricolore-type paint scheme with gold OZ Piega wheels. Should give you an idea as to how well it would go together.

Personally I think that with a Tri paint scheme, the gold makes it too "busy". I think the gold would work much better on a red (or white) S/R/base where there isn't a lot of colors/shapes going on. But that's just my opinion.

I am with you mate gold on a tri would look a bit too much. Looks great on an S or R though with the base red. IMHO of course.

which oz wheels are 1900 i know the checa wheels are 2500 you can get them cheaper but advertised is 2500 and you need a conversion kit. are the piega wheels 1900?

zohsix01, thanks for the pic - that is just what I was looking for. I think on the new Tricolore, the gold looks good, while on the older Tricolore pictured earlier in this thread, is indeed too busy for gold colored wheels. Thanks again.

JeffD, I looked on various websites and failed to find any reference to an aluminum forged 6-spoke Cattiva model, (which is shown exclusively as forged magnesium). The Piega 5-spoke model is the only model in forged aluminum I could find mentioned. Do you have any info that is contrary to this? Thanks for the help.

Just get the carlos checa replica and powdercoat it like I did. 6 spoke design looks much better than the 5.

Sorry for the confusion Jim. As Mark clarified and double0 says above, the only 6 spoke OZ forged aluminum wheel is the Carlos Checa replica which comes in a silver/gunmetal type color. The OZ Piega 5 spoke forged aluminum is the one that is available in Gold anodization from Motowheels for $1,900 shipped with their VIP membership ($15 annually).

I recently saw one of our regular forum members post a picture of his R model with gold-colored Marchesini wheels - it looked incredible I thought. So much so, that I started wondering how my Tricolore might look with similar wheels. Has anyone seen this done? Are there any pictures out there? I have never been really big on the design of the S-style wheels, so I am thankful they are in black (they are less noticeable that way). The Marchesini's are a far more attractive design, and like I said, I sure liked the way that R model looked. Thanks in advance for the opinions and advise.

Here you go Jim! It's a picture I had spotted a while back. A base that's been re-painted, but hopefully it will give you a rough idea of how yours will look.
