Triple clamps

It appears those clamps dont have steering stops unless its just a bad picture, the left stop broke off mine I had it repaired for use just for the track, I ordered a race upper fairing mount too, the Panni is back in road trim again I've ridden it a few hundered k its seems ok??

Just wondering if I had not fitted the Wood Craft Clipon's if it would have broken the steering stop at all, my buddy went down on his Panni with the std bar which as they all do just sheared off the woodcraft one just bent (about 50 degrees out) but when he went down it was on the right side so it ripped off the throttle and start/stop switch ($755) for both pieces his day was done as was mine, the Ducati bar is like $70 the woodcraft replacement $22?? but did it have a role in the steering stop breaking off..I bought the new lower triple from my local dealer $550 (Cad) with my discount?? if the bar had snapped off maybe the lower tripple may have not broken?

Despite all the speculation I'm still inclined to use the stronger Woodcraft clipons!

I'm using the woodcraft clip-ons. I believe the stock clip-ons will bolt in, too, so you can always have a spare (provided if your clip-ons aren't toast prior to scoring wood).

For anyone considering the Woodcraft clip-ons, keep in mind that they will put your hands about 1/2" forward and you'll have to drill out the Woodcraft set prior to installing the switches, which have tabs in 'em to keep the throttle/switches in place. Fitment is very tight--takes no small amount of time to adjust the clipons so they (and the brake / clutch res) don't contact the fairing. Also the hardware (bolts) Woodcraft sends are kind of crap. Replace with Grade 8 (OSH) or Ti.

Oh yeah--and one more thing--the Woodcraft Steering damper mount is poorly designed. Mine has loosened up / shifted off nearly completely on a few occasions. Go with the Ducabike one that Bellisimoto sells, but you'll have to drop your right fork tube to install.

As for the tabs--any major tipover, regardless of the type of clip-on, is going to take out the tab.

Can you use the woodcraft replacement bars with the stock clip ons? How about the ducabike bars?

Anti,
Just a point for me to understand. If you remove the top triple clamp you can then just slide the ducabike steering damp mount down from the top end? There fore no need to move the right foreleg. Or am I missing something.

cheers

So for a track bike would it an absolute must to have the steering stops or would it be something that I could get away with not having

Roby moto is what i carry... around 700 euros ... nice

Kamnea has triples in Magnesium... :)

mine broke off during a a crash...... I ordered on from ebay off a guy with this name
hotrodstohellnet ..... don't order from him. He sold me a broken one .... after I had already explained to him i mine broke, so he sold me his broken one as well. ........ Anyways, I have a brand new one from Ducati ordered.

Yep it was from a prang . These stops are very weak I have heard of new bikes with the stops already broken .

+1
Mine went from a roll off the side stand !
Bar touches the very top of the side fairing thought not the tank. There is very little marking even after 9 months in this state.

I wish they didn't machine the foot of those stop into sharp corners.

I have a spare set (lower/upper) if anyone needed it. PM me

a good duc mechanic I know told me the steering stops are designed to break off easily to prevent further damage to the aluminum frame that connects the steering head to the top of the engine.
