So I had just loaded up the Pani for it's trip out west with the shippers.
Felt bad as it pulled away. I knew the only thing to cure those blues was going to be a ride on the Bayliss 1098R.
Pulled it out onto the local parkway and was cruising along in my usual mildmhooligan manner (= raping the highway).
Next thing I hear; sirens and blips of a cop car. Lifted my arm in the chicken wing salute that all Duc riders need to use the friggin' mirror and right up my ... was a NYS trooper! These dudes are NOTORIOUS for tickets; once pulled over, you're guaranteed at least one ticket.
Thinking fast, I killed the bike and immediately put the keys into my pocket (always remember this boys and girls: they can't make you start your bike to check the pipes if the keys aren't there. You can refuse)
Ok; so I stay straddling the bike and the trooper comes up and says we have to talk. I ask can I please get off and he said yes. Being the proper gentleman at this point is crucial: he asked for my papers and I asked would he mind if I pullled my wallet out to do so and was I asking, "what happened? Did something fall off my bike? Is a the tail lite out?? Did you see that woman in the sentra cut me off and she was on her cell phone? "
He ignord my small talk and said my pipes are illegal and worth four summons alone. I explained that it was a special LE and that the pipes are stock from the factory can show him on my cell a website from Duc saying so.
He said I was changing lanes without directionals and speeding and passing the right. I asked, didnt jyou see how those crazy people were driving? I told him I watch traffic more closely than him and react to it in life preservation mode only.
Said he'd be right back and went to his car. I figured I was about to get a fist full of tickets and my bike impounded. Instead, when he came back, he said"you have no traffic infractions on record in NY" I said that's right; I'm very careful
He then said he liked the red, white and blue American theme on my bike and said have a nice day!!and be careful!!
I couldn't believe my luck! I am the first person I know to get pulled by a NYS trooper and not get some kind of ticket!!
Thank goodness he didn't know what the Australian flag looked like!!
Thanks, Troy! For putting that color scheme on the bike! It fooled an American state trooper!
