Some background first. I have a 2012 Tricolore with the full Termi pipes (and MWR air filter). I have the TuneBoy system with cruise control, and have loaded the latest 0206 program. Upon installation of my Termi headers, I loaded the TuneBoy full Termi trim program file, BUT - and here is the potential problem - it is on top of my previous 0206 slip-ons usb keyed upmap, NOT the full Termi usb keyed upmap. It appears to run perfectly (easy use) by the way. The supplied full Termi upmap was from a forum members R model, and having been previously loaded into his R model it will work only for his specific bike (and probably also due to it being incompatible with my Tricolore ECU). Hence, it reads "Download Aborted" whenever I try to load it into my bike. FINALLY, here is the question I require help with: do I need to load the TuneBoy trim files ontop of the Full Termi keyed upmap, OR does it not matter if it is ontop of my slip-on upmap? Does the trim program set up entirely new levels of fuel and/or ignition values into the ECU regardless of the starting point (slip-ons versus full in this case), or does it ADD/SUBTRACT to the correct (depending on what exhaust system is installed) usb keyed upmap? My concern is a potential for high rpm lean condition damage if the fuel/air mixture is significantly off correct levels. Thanks very much in advance for your assistance.

Christ reading this put my head into a spin. Hope you get your answer jim.

Reading stuff like this makes me glad my bike is stock except for some minor bling .....

Pretty keen on an Akra system. But I would just fit it without worrying about a special tune or aftermarket tuning stuff.

Jim are you a track rider or just street rider ?

Bradp51, just a street rider anymore, but my main concern is potentially damaging the engine from running it too lean. With the bike now having the full Termi system, it should run leaner than with the slip-ons. If the fuel delivery is correct for the slip ons, it is not too much of a leap of logic to think it is now running lean. Not understanding exactly how the TuneBoy trim program files work, is the reason for my inquiry. Thanks for your interest.

The Tuneboy Trim file will replace any Trim file you've already loaded.
When you flash it, you choose the base calibration (206) and choose the trim file to be applied. Any other flashes are erased and the new one is applied.

Good luck with working it all out. My reason for asking whether street or track is that I bet if you and I went for a ride together, my stock bike and your term bike would end up at the same place at the same time. I think sometimes chasing that extra couple of HP does not matter too much for street riding with your buddies.

I can see though why you might be concerned about lean mixtures. One indicator would be temp. If temp remains fine then the mixture is probably ok.

Doug, if there are no previous trim files, just the 0206 slip on file from the Ducati usb upmap that comes with the slip ons, does the trim file add to this, or is it a separate "stand alone" file? Thanks greatly for your help.

I would look at exhaust tips too....they should be pretty dark.... if they are light or even white then I would be worried.... Its very unlikely though....

Stw, the outer exit is very dark as is usual. However, up about 5 to 6 inches where the perforated tube end can be seen, it is considerably lighter, although not white. I have yet to push the engine hard as I have been reluctant to harm it if it indeed was too lean. In addition, I would like to gain any potential hp due from installing the full Termi headers. Never can have too much power you know. Thanks very much for the help, and for your understanding on the previous matter.

Jim..No problem.... I think you maybe worrying unduly...The termi maps are fat not lean.... so uploading the map is going to richen the mixture not make it leaner... I cannot answer your actual TB questions and hopefully Wayne will.... but whilst as we speak you may not be at a perfect a/f ratio I think its highly likely you are still way on the safe side ....

Hi Jim,

My understanding is that the Tuneboy program applies the 'Trim' to whichever map is loaded and active. In this case I think you are correct, it is applying the trim on top of your slip on map rather than the full Termi you have fitted.

Doug is right that the 0206 software is flashed into the ECU with the Tuneboy FlashMitsubishi program. My understanding (and I might be wrong!) is that the 0206 software (or whichever version) contains all the different maps for Wet/Sport/Race modes and different exhaust configurations - standard, slip ons and full Termi. 9 maps in total. The USB stick provided simply tells the bike which exhaust configuration you have and which maps to use.

Your problem as I understand it is to get the bike to recognise you have the full Termi fitted. 3 options I suppose
1) Get hold of another USB stick that will unlock the full Termi for your bike.
2) Have the bike dyno'd and a specific trim file created for your bike on top of the Termi Slip On map so you know the fuelling is correct.
3) Live with it!

I'm not sure how different the full Termi map is compared to the slip on map. Perhaps someone else can comment?

SPJ, thanks for the input. I have considered dyno tuning, but am finding it difficult to locate TuneBoy-familiar tuners for a reasonable price (one bid was nearly $4500). Are you knowledgeable as to whether once a usb key is used on a particular bike, it will work in the future ONLY on that bike? If such is the case, it would require me to purchase a new Full-Termi key - if not, I could borrow one. A $500 difference. Do you know if the dealer's computer has the ability to accomplish this upgrade to the Full-Termi system? I have faith in Wayne's (TuneBoy owner) programs, I just want to have the correct trim on top of the correct base map. Thanks again for your help.

Sorry, a bit out of my depth when it comes to how the USB works!

I'm speculating now but I think when it's plugged in it will either unlock the designated map or return the bike to standard, the opposite of the last function performed.

I don't know what would happen if you were to borrow another USB, especially as the last time that USB was used it would probably have been to unlock the full map. Maybe plugging it in twice would have the desired effect, I wouldn't want to be the one to try it! I'd be surprised/disappointed though if they didn't transfer between bikes, most racers would want to be able to take the exhaust system to a new bike or sell it on eventually.

Best bet is probably to find a friendly dealer and ask. As it's software I'm sure there must be a solution somewhere. Good luck!

IF you contact Tuneboy they will send you the latest files, I just received SEPT ones from them, no new trim file yet though. But I did notice on the download link there are USB1/2/3 files also, may be worth a question to wayne as to which one is which to try on your bike. i've not had time to upload the new ones yet as bike was returned to stock for a dealer visit on fri.

I think what TB offers us is awesome..I just wish that they were a little more responsive.... I know we cant have perfection though.. Wayne's efforts are admirable mush appreciated and I am very happy we have someone attempting to improve things and offer modifications...:)

Yes, I agree the TuneBoy system is great, but as stated, the responsiveness of Wayne leaves something to be desired. I emailed him with this question four weeks ago, on October 2nd, and again about three days ago on the 26th. Absolutely nothing in response. The product is excellent, the service unfortunately is not.

Jim, I started a thread of my own similar to this, I'm kind of in the same boat. I have a full Termi ready to go on with no 'up map key' so I'm wondering the same as I am going from completely stock map. I too am waiting for a response from Wayne. I would appreciated it if you could let me know if you come up with any answers, I will of course do likewise if I come up with anything.

flipper24196, I will let you know. As of today, still not a word from Wayne. I find it incredible that I can buy a product (not a cheap one at that), but getting at least a simple acknowledgement that he will get back with me when he has time seems an impossibility. My original (second one sent a week ago) email is two days shy of a full month ago!! A perfect illustration of absolutely abysmal customer service. I can only imagine what would transpire if anything warranty related was involved. Others out there considering this system - beware, you are on your own. Great product, terrible service. My favorite reply from him so far was a curt "read the manual" - gee, its only 140 pages long, and for someone who is not especially a techy (I did recently graduate the Univ of Calif with a 3.98 GPA, so I don't think I'm especially dense), is akin to a combo of Greek and ancient Hebrew. Enough with the venting, but a month is too long!

Where did you see the download link where it was showing usb1/2/3 ?
