From what info I have gathered the new 1299R FE and 1299 SL are Euro 4 spec engines. Does anyone know if they will still be compatible with current ECU tuning devices such as Rapid Bike, Brentuning, Tuneboy etc....?

I have a deposit on the 2018 FE and plan to take it to the track. The usual mods will also be done, such as exhaust, P-16 filter and so on. I'd also like the option to run a different map for race fuel. If I will be locked out from making tuning changes than it just might be best to buy a 16 R instead...

Some BMW friends have told me that their Euro 4 spec bikes have a legally required and standardized automotive type ECU plug in. Because of the different plug and subsequent changes in the pin out configuration the Euro 4 bikes can not be tuned with euro 3 devices. Not sure if this also holds true to the upcoming Euro 4 spec Ducati's though?

Something to think about before spending $40K on a new bike...

You could ask tuneboy you know they will tell you, I don't see it being a problem.

I talked to Rapidbike about this and they said that their system doesn't access directly into the into the ECU and so it shouldn't be a problem. However, they can't confirm that it will actually play well or kick on a check engine light on the euro 4 bikes.

I'm not too worried about it except that due to the limited volume of 1299 euro 4 Panigales might not make it profitable enough for them to develop tuning products for it.

I've also inquired to Brentuning and am awaiting a reply.
