Agreed but it is still an offence not to display a current tax disc. It only takes one pissed off copper who stops you for other issues such as say speeding and he adds failure to display to the offence list.

I too have never heard of anyone getting done as an offence by itself and also have had discs nicked. I now display a colour photocopy with the original in my wallet. Not sure how that would stand up though!

I love my 748 still looks good too. I rebuilt it a few years ago looks like new. Did 27k miles in the first three years through 3 winters, it was looking a bit sorry for itself. Cracking motor too.

In among the humour my point was the same as the more sensible ones, ie I've never put a tax disc on a bike and been stopped numerous times, back before computers I got it out of my pocket when asked, he said fair enough and since then never asked. It's all as they say 'on computer'!
