Keep it in your pocket, don't put it on your bike, all the holders look ugly and there's no need really as its all computerised and logged with DVLA, if the police stop you, they already know if it's taxed and insured, through checking the national system. Tax discs normally just get nicked on bikes for some reason, hence I never leave mine on my bike. So save yourself some money, on holder!
Agreed but it is still an offence not to display a current tax disc. It only takes one pissed off copper who stops you for other issues such as say speeding and he adds failure to display to the offence list.
I too have never heard of anyone getting done as an offence by itself and also have had discs nicked. I now display a colour photocopy with the original in my wallet. Not sure how that would stand up though!
