Got service done yesterday at 920 miles, did about 250 with a total of 1100+ miles now.

Appreciated my tech allowing me to watch him and ask any ?s durring the service, considering they squeezed me in the schedule late in the day.

Haven't had a hard start since Sat and Ev. valve still disconnected...runs like a champ in all conditions.

I've gotten used to all the controls and no longer double press to cancle turn sig...still need to adjust my rear break and shifter, but waiting til my reverse shifter comes in (been too busy riding ;) )

I too was considering wrapping my headers and still am, though I've realized that the pipe under the seat is maybe ONLY responsible for about 20% of heat we feel. Most of it is definately from radiator blow back and some from the subframe mount point.

Tires are amazing as always and will stick with these specifically...not sure is the SPs that came on my 1198 have the same exact blend (not much different if at all)

I've decided I will definately +1 on the rear sprocket, I need more umph low down and off the line.

Riding modes are very convenient (dash in night mode all the time :p), I ride in Sport mode (still set to 195 Low) most times unless im out playing. Race mode (set on 195 Hi of course) Is very noticably different and i like that. I find it difficult to ride it HARD sometimes tho, I mean red line shifting...its hard to hang on and tank grips wont helf me because my knees/inner thighs aren't even where they grips would be lol. I need adjustable rear sets to aid this, I like my further back and even higher. and a racing windsheild might be on the list now :)

Love my Pani !!

pics bellow are of service job, riding around town and a bike show this past weekend where my dealer brought out some of their toys...enjoy

I noticed this as well - I'm sliding all over the place and decided I needed stomp grips but having seen the pics of their location and where my knees/thighs are on teh bike I dont think either would be in contact with the grips??
I'm 6'1" so not overly abnormal in the height dept. Anyone else having an issue with grip in teh right place!!!!

I'm the same height and my knees actually sit comfortably in a little area below the tank where the subframe bolts onto the engine. There is no area there to place any stomp grip. I havent really had any issues with grip other than sliding on the seat from time to time and racking my "gentlemen" on the tank. I plan on re-upholstering my seat with another material for more grip, but let's save that talk for another thread.

I'm 5'10" and find my knees/inner thighs placed just under the tank durring accel/ cornering. I like that position on cornering though the foot pegs are too smooth. While accelerating I dont feel quiet secure and having to pull on the handle bars too much (not good)...even in full tuck

The foot pegs are very smooth. Looking forward to getting some aftermarket rearsets, as I'm not mad on the look of the Oberon pegs some have used (even as an interim measure).

Nice pics BTW

Sorry I couldn't make the show, first day on the bike riding back from up north. I heard about it tho, sounds like I'll have to plan for it next year.

Who's your dealer?

Reno's PowerSport is my main dealer...had my bike serviced down at the lake tho because they had a slot come available at the last min :)

Nice pics! I've always been impressed with KC bike scene. Seems like no matter what make is ridden, there always seems to be alot of support at events.

Anyone know whether the sprocket change affects the speedo reading? Where does the speed reading come from? Is it the same gear that reads wheel speed etc etc for the ABS, in which case it shouldn't change with sprocket changes?

It won't.

Actually I think it does guys, I've had 2 bikes done and they were off due to the gear change.

My 999 was off by less than 5 mph but the GSXR 750 was off by like 12 mph.

Just like changing rear gearing in your car or drastically changing your wheel size ;)

The revs vs indicated mph will obviously change, but the actual road speed vs the speedo reading will NOT change with a front or rear sprocket change.

A tire circumference change will change the road speed vs speedo reading.

I can tell you for SURE that the indicated speed is always LESS than the actual road speed. You can verify how much by GPS.

I disagree with your last statement...I always find that Indicated speed is more than actual speed ...

Apart from having those reversed, he's otherwise spot on.

Changing the gearing will not affect your speed reading.
