Just purchased an 1199 abs, put 5 miles on it, and am about to disassemble it for some upgrades.ordered Akra Evo exhaust,thermo-tec exhaust wrap, rapid bike race module, air block offs, and a sprint air fiter. Any advice/ recommendations for this upgrade while I have my bike apart?

And don't forget to start a savings account in the event that something breaks as you will have no warranty.

So you plan on wrapping your titanium pipes and trapping all that heat in the wrap?

Why would your wrap that lovely Ti ?

wasn't wrapping exhausts something meaningful 30yrs ago....?....retaining heat for reasons (endodoc will share with us) ? - ultimately for increased or maintaining performance...whereas now people do it to keep, whats believed/felt by many to be, excessive heat from reaching the riders "body parts"

Just wrapping exhaust under heat shield , would rather have money to put into the bike instead of the proctologist for 3rd degree burn care , boy, I should get some great responses from this...

Just a guess, but it's an 1199 so probably no warranty anyway.

Btw Italpanigale, we have some things in common....see my current bikes below.

Nice collection Jim, not to worried about warranty, bike cost me $8k, has 2,000 miles , should still have some life left in it, will upgrade internals if not, win/win none the less.

Uuhhhhmmm, the DEI website states...

"Note about Titanium Exhaust Systems:
DEI does NOT recommend wrapping Titanium exhausts. The alloys used in the production of titanium exhaust systems tend to be thin and are designed to dissipate heat quickly. By wrapping the exhaust, the additional heat can make the titanium alloy turn brittle and prone to premature cracking. DEI recommends using alternatives such as our flexible heat shields when seeking to reduce the heat on titanium exhaust systems.

Thanks Gecko, will look into flexible heat shielding , appreciate the good advise, my original reason for posting in the first place.

"what heat"...just keep moving ;)

enough with the heat issue are you guys remotely serious. you are sitting on an engine but unless you are a squid that rides in shorts there is NO issue at all. i have full termi original carbon termi heat shield and have never had a heat issue. im going to start calling it fake heat issue like fake rage when dems read something they dont like.

I think you have the meaningful upgrades covered and you may not even need the block plates as RB will account for the difference. Maybe look at suspension and wheels next? Or just ride the thing. Congrats!

Great advice on foot pegs, wheels, suspension and riding school. Will continue track schools, get pegs, as for suspension problably the normal ttx36 and ohlins cartridges, possible bst wheels in the not to distant future. Would be open to any suspension upgrade / experience advice anyone has for the 1199, thanks.
