Nice collection Jim, not to worried about warranty, bike cost me $8k, has 2,000 miles , should still have some life left in it, will upgrade internals if not, win/win none the less.

Damn, you got a hell of a deal on that! A bike that's only 2 years old with only 2000 miles for 8 grand. Hell yeah!

I started with a 2012 base with ABS, below is list of my upgrades rank by amt of improvement to actual riding.

1) Rearsets
2) New seat / Seat cover
3) FGRT Forks
4) 41 tooth sprocket
5) Rapid Bike Module
6) TTX Shock
6) Marchesini wheels
7) Akra Exhaust
8) Carbon Front Fender
9) Piaa ultra white Headlamp

Should've just bought an "R"

"Correct" :)

If I remember correctly, you have the full Termi exhaust which is obviously not titanium so the effects of wrapping your undertail pipes are completely different than wrapping titanium.

As Gecko already posted, wrapping titanium exhaust pipes is not recommended.

Just regarding heat from the under seat exhaust, I just fitted the 1299 full stock exhaust to my 899 and it's now quite a bit hotter than the system it replaced. On the 899 the shield is attached to the actual exhaust loop via a couple of brackets and as you know the 1299 attaches onto the subframe.

I have an aftermarket alloy subframe fitted and installed it directly as is done on the 1299, I know the diameter is larger 60mm up from about 55mm but the increase in heat is quite significant. Mine pretty much is a track only bike and I was only riding on the road to let the Rapid Bike do it's adjustment but .... it was hot just tooling around.

If it was a road bike I think I would weld some tabs and fit an 899 shield and keep a big air gap between the shield and subframe.

On our bikes its the motor heat more then the exh

when the engine is over 200F you ... is going to cook if you cannot get the bike over 45 no matter what you do to exh

Sorry it was meant for 1299 owners rather than you. The heat shield is a different fit, if you had read my post you may have got that.

A question to 1199 owners regarding exhaust heat. How does changing from a stock exhaust to a full Termignoni system affect the heat? I will soon install my new full Termi and thinking if I should ceramic coat headers before installing it (as I think would be a good idea just to limit the heat a bit).

1199 or 1299 makes no difference, they all get hot and the heat issue is about done to death on this forum

enough with the heat issue are you guys remotely serious. you are sitting on an engine but unless you are a squid that rides in shorts there is NO issue at all. i have full termi original carbon termi heat shield and have never had a heat issue. im going to start calling it fake heat issue like fake rage when dems read something they dont like.

So when I have to slow down in stop and go Houston traffic in the summer that heat on my legs is fake heat? And no, I don't ride in shorts.

Cry me a river we all have traffic and high temperature. The first comes on maybe you should go faster or move north the bikes heat is no different than any other bike

Depends, engine heat is the real problem not exhaust.

BUT mine was hotter until I used the new upgraded shield and wrapped it.

SO yes I would coat it.

I have not had my bike for long time, purchased it in September and only done 600 km (now we have winter and not able to use this type of bikes) so not much experience. I have not had any heat issues but thinking it may be clever to ceramic coat those new termi headers before installing them.

Reading around here (and there) I have got the impression that peoples removing rear cylinder head covers do not notice much difference in heat radiated to rider legs but those wrapping and ceramic coating headers say they notice improvements. That is mainly for stock headers I assume.

Thus my question, how peoples going from stock headers to termi headers (without doing anything else) feel the heat? Does it increase or decrease the heat? My termi hace the newer carbon/aluminium heat shield.

i went riding the other day in 50 degree weather, the heat was actually welcoming.
