Stopped for gas and now I can't start the bike as it thinks the kickstand is down. Is there a work around so I can get it going? Please and thanks

Subscribed for answers as I've experienced the same stalling issues on my 2019 V4S.

Try to unplug and clean and re-plug the side stand connector. Worst case you can jump the connector with a paper clip to get home.

I thought someone here determined it was heat from the bike cooking this sensor, and often after cool down it will work again?

There is a small magnet in the side stand on the V4S. It can some out (it is just glued by Ducati). It probably came off.

Not sure if you are back up and running, but this happened to my V4R as well, the magnet came out and its stuck to the shift rod. I just re-glued the magnet back in and no more issues.

Amazing discovery, I will keep that in mind

Thanks!

Wondering what that magnet do to suggest in activate?

The magnet is on the kickstand towards the top. it activates the sensor to tell the engine the kickstand is down and to not let the engine engage a gear (if you engage it kills the engine so that you dont ride away with the kickstand down and fall when you go to turn). this magnet came unglued on my V4R, and was stuck to the shift rod. This inturn told the bike my kickstand was down when it was not. I noticed this on a ride once, figured it out asap. Put it back in the spot and it worked... once i got home, i reglued the magnet in the holder for no more issues in the future.

Awesome! Glad that fixed!

Would the heat of the bike has anything to do with it?

I am unsure. I think its heat of bike and also the banging that the kickstand takes when putting it up. When i put the magnet in without glue (at the gas station) and i threw the kickstand up, once the kick stand banged into its resting spot, the vibration of that knocked out the magnet. since the magnet is quite strong, it reached to the nearest metal, the shift rod.

SO i would say its both items that helped knock mine loose. and some bad glue job from ducati. I wouldnt expect all bikes to go through this, all depends on how good it was glued in

This just happened to me a few weeks ago. I noticed the bike cutting out and then it stopped doing it. A few days later the bike started doing it again and then finally completely cut out.

As it turned out, the wire that connects to the sensor had come too close to the exhaust and it melted causing the sensor to show the kickstand as being down. I asked the dealer how that could have happened- shouldn't that wire be pulled back or tie wrapped away from the exhaust. They said it should be but it wasn't and they replaced the sensor and made sure the wire was pulled back away from the exhaust

Thankfully the bike is still under warranty and it didn't cost me anything.
