On the Euro 5 stuff the dealers are pushing back on owner servicing of any kind. I wonder if relative to the Euro 6 stuff it's no touch. We'll see shortly. Parts are so absurdly high for these bikes. If you blow up a motor you're only course is to find a used one if you're out of warranty.

That's going to collide, and very rightly so, with the right to repair movement. I hope the US sees a separation with those markets which have to comply with EU regulations. Global homologation should be called into question.

The parts cost for Ducati bikes is terrible. It speaks to epic mismanagement of resources or pure corporate greed. Hard to know which.

On another note… can I use my deussen tuner on the new bike ? Has anyone ran Daniel’s device on numerous bikes, or is it locked to one.. I remember reading about this for one of my devices but I can’t find anything on it tonight.
Device per bike. You can buy another license to use it with another bike though. I suggest riding it as is and try to identify a problem you're trying to solve with a tune. Don't throw money at it in search of a problem.

From the parts cost they want them to be disposable. I've been going thru the cost of a simple V4 overhaul; rings, bearings, head gaskets, rod bolts, collets, shims etc. $2K. New rev oil pump $700? So you're closing on $3K if nothings wrong. I'm looking at going thru one of these and I'd say minimum 40 hrs probably more like 60 to blueprint. $6k to 10K labor. Titanium valve collets as used in the R's are $50 per pair. This is the reason I think no one seems to want to build these. The greed is from Audi. Parts cost tripled with their ownership.

I wish they'd just give a p/n for a crate engine, long block preferably, and be done with it.

The tune would be to un-neuter the bike after the 600 mile break-in period. I am hoping I’m not using it to diagnose problems before then. I reached out to Danny, I’ll see if he can help me out once I’m at that point.

or new 2024 V4R with zero miles. - $45k

Is there any major differences between these two years? I never ran a termi exhaust, but I like the idea that I get the bike with it for less and I am past the first oil change and can put a deussen tune on it.

Please offer suggestions or insights, this is my first V4R.

If the bike has a Termi exhaust on it, in all likelihood it has a tune already on it.

Went with the new bike not that one, that one was allegedly coming in from a divorce. I didn't really feel like waiting, they only had one 2024 V4R on the floor and with the release of the 2025 redesign I was nervous someone was gonna buy it. Maybe the latest model of the SSSA.
