So, bike ran at the track all weekend. Started over heating a bit toward the end of the last day. Shut it down and called it a day.

Today (about a week later) the bike won’t start. I’ve tried 2 separate fuel pumps. All connections are seated correctly. Both coils are working and giving spark. I’ve changed the spark plugs and put in a brand new battery. Still not starting. It’s turning over but isn’t igniting for some reason. Thoughts?

That looks pretty dry. If you are trying to start the bike and it’s getting fuel, the plugs should get wet if you’ve been cranking and cranking with no start. I thought you put in new plugs? That one looks pretty used.

Check the Evap Can at the bottom right behind the radiator guard.

My bike wouldn’t start and couldn’t figure it out for the life of me after checking everything you mentioned. But I finally found that the Evap Can had some fuel in it from possibly overfilling the tank (?). The unit seems pretty sensitive to even a small amount of fuel but I ended up pulling the unit out, emptied & dried it out in front of a fan, and put it back in; it started right up after that.

That’s the used one. I did just put brand new ones In

gonna give it a try today. Unfortunately, I think it has something to do with compression. Hopefully nothing too too major. Sprayed some starting fluid into the throttle bodies and still didn’t get any kind of bang. Has spark, has fuel, has air, only leaves one option.

Keep us posted. Hopefully it’s nothing too major like you said. Good luck!

Have you hooked it up to Melcodiag? How are you verifying spark? I once chased a similar problem with a 675 and I had an engine tuner tear the engine down. It turned out to be a dead crank position sensor.

Removed the spark plugs and tested the coils

How are you verifying you are getting fuel?

How were you in the position to be in possession of two different fuel pumps to try?

Perhaps off-topic- but I have recently run into an issue with a V4R (new battery so that's not the issue) where it refused to turn over, until I would add some fresh gas/octane booster. Seems like Stripes gas station 93 combined with this super high heat and humidity environment is no bueno, especially when it sits in my garage for a month+.

First time in my life that this issue rears its head, but I do live in a Mexico environment where garage temps are everyday high AF and humidity high, gas quality is perhaps suspect even though the pump says 93. If anyone else has similar experience/more knowledge on the matter- would love to hear it.

You might be having an issue with the ethanol in the fuel. When it sits for a while it will start drawing moisture out of the air.

It will bump start?

No
How are you verifying fuel is getting to the cylinder?

I’ve sprayed fuel directly into the throttle bodies (which are working) and it still doesn’t get a good ignition. The spark is burning it, as I can see the smoke coming out of the exhaust, but it isn’t getting any compression, which is leading me to believe it’s the rings
