I had my 19 V4 on the track Friday.
I was setting up and testing the new Attack rear sets, RG Tank grip pads and new EBC GPFAX front pads.
Control over the bike felt better and more connected. It took three adjustments on the rear set foot peg positions. I think its good.
Connection to the bike is much better and excellent.
Pads are stong and progressive. I like them better then stock for the track. They gave good bite, even when cold and more power when hot.

The only issue I have and notice is that corners when there is heavy breaking prior and decreasing radious, is that the front is very deep in the stroke/travel. Feels like I dont have much to go and give just a subtle lack of confidence.

I have the base bike with newest Ohlins GPTTX rear shock, Ohlins damper but stock fork (but it was dialed in my my local suspension tuner, over a few track days).

Talking with Fuzzy at GP Suspension, he noted that the Base "Big Piston" forks have 118mm of travel and tend to blow through the travel as the speed picks up.
His ideal fix is a kit which gives it 130mm of travel and better damping.
Looking at the fastest racers bikes, they seem to have a similar 130mm fork set up and kitting. So I think I'm going this direction. He also feels it fixes some of the geometry issues.

I use my V4 for 95% track.

Any thoughts?

The same forks are on the 899/959 (and a number of jap bikes)

on my 899 used 1.0kg spring, slighting thicker oil and lowered the fork 1 ring and had no more problem with bottom out under braking.

If you have the coin then you can look at the ohlins inserts for them but think these keep the OEM 120mm travel.

I am really interested on this trd.
I am riding std Showa BPF, and is bottoming easily on hard braking and hard trailing brakes

I have similar conditions.
The short fix will be to put the fork leg caps flush with the triple tree (Stock was one ring and the rest of the cap showing). This will get the front up about 5-7mm. mimicking the long front end of the 130mm kit. It wont change the traits of the fork, which too easily moves through the travel on the track, into hard braking corners.

I'm hoping to send my forks off next week to GP suspension to fit the 130mm conversion kit. guessing slightly stiffer valving, especially in the mid and end stroke, slightly firmer springs?

I'll report back more soon as I have an update.

this will be interesting.
I am coming to the conclusion that I need new forks and rear mono.
thanks and let us know

+1

no pics

Sorry all, I seem to be pictures challenged.

The picture should show the before (stock) with two rings showing at the top of the triple tree.

After, The fork tube flush with triple tree, with thew cap showing.

5-7mm extension.

Net results were positive. A bit slower steering but better front end feedback and confidence into hear braking corners. more details to come.

Fuzzy knows his stuff....if he is willing to help you count yourself lucky and do what he says....

The Ohlins FKR lengthened to 130 mm is the standard "fast guy" fork and works a treat! I have about 6 of them.....no complaints and excellent resistance to "bottoming" due to pressurized compression. Same stuff only available to MotoAmerica racers a few years ago.
