V4 Frustrated

OK I am just a little frustrated with my V4 right now. When I tried to swap my rear-sets to GP shift the bolt was on so tight it had to drilled out.

Then I tried swapping the rotors onto a spare set of wheels. The rotor bolts on one side were so tight I was flexing my socket wrench.

Now I am putting the front wheel back on tightened the pinch bolts but the axle still spins when trying to torque. Am I missing something is there another way to set the front axle. I am not a mechanic and I have worked my bikes for years and this frustrating me. Sorry rant over.

Sounds like you need some better tools . Use a front axel alignment tool on your axel then do up the pinch bolts .

No the tools I have are not the issue as they are craftsman not high end but not cheap. It just seems like they over tightened and place an abundance of lock tight on everything. I will purchase an alignment tool as it has been awhile sense my last Ducati.

The lock tight is an issue . The last bikes had lots of issues of bolts coming loose . I think the factory went a little overboard .
The rotors on all the bikes have been like that over the years

If it is of any consolation, last Sunday in COTA after one of the sessions my rear brake reservoir was dangling on the hose. The bolt was gone. I zip tied the reservoir in place and finished the day. Looks like you wont be suffering from this one your machine!

I just wanted to rant a little bit. I have read several post like above with owners having things fall off. It is all good I have a spare set of wheels so purchasing an extra set of rotors & sensor ring all good.

all the bolt you mention, i had removed with no problem. Not sure it makes any different but i used and impact gun. Also do you have the S or base? the front pinch bolt are set different from base to S model.

Wow I would think an impact gun would be to much for small the smaller bolts. I was looking at getting one to take the rear tire off as I know that I used to have my wife stand on the rear brake when I had Ducati's before. Also I have the Speciale.

Yeah i dont know if an impact is the right tool for those small bolts.

i didnt use a crazy strong air impact. It was a electric cordless Milwaukee 3/8 impact. couple of tap on the trigger, thats all it take.

If it is around just metal and you think it is locked , get a heat gun onto it and it will undo easily . Alloys heat up quickly and gaps the threads .

I thought I would post a little update. I had my bike in to have some accessories added. They noticed that it had a lot of overtightened fasteners. So much so that they covered some of the bolts I couldn't remove under warranty.
