Hi guys

Just removed the clutch cover on the V4R to replace it with a basket, but oil trickled out as I moved the bike?! I know its a dry clutch but im a bit puzzled

I dont believe that is normal. My 1198 had a dry clutch and I never remember having oil in there. My guess is you have a leak from where it is sealed off from the rest if the engine that does have oil. I know when you buy those conversion kits to change a wet to a dry clutch you have to plug a hole to prevent engine oil from getting in there. I'd have it looked at.

So I noticed a small amount of oil film at the bottom face of where the cover would mate and showed it to AMS Ducati when I was getting my buttons installed, they said it's not normal and to watch it close and let them know. It may need a new seal but they need to order it. The clutch is not slipping so I am keeping an eye on it and will prob have it replaced.

I am seeing the same thing. After my last track day, and last ride, I noticed oil on the bottom of my clutch cover and some on my right rearset. It was very minimal, but concerning.

I guess it is time to pull off the clutch cover and see what is in there.

I have the same problem. Just did a track day the lower right side fairing is wet as is around the clutch

I Had 5 Races Memorial Day weekend at Summit point on my new V4R, came off the track in the first race on lap# 3 because my oil light was flickering!! Oil was full and I started to scratch my head until I noticed oil on the right side of the Belly pan and also on my rearset, Dry clutch also had oil in the bottom!!! Sounds like we are All looking at Recall #1 eventually!!! So out of 5 Races I had a DNF and 4 mechanicals, not a way to gain points and stay towards the front in the standings.Grrrrr

I've had 3 Ducati's and so far 3/3 have leaked oil. Not encouraged that the new r is since I have one on order.

Hey, you're back. Sorry to hear about the unfortunate events with the 4. I was really looking forward to some feedback. I don't know anyone else running that platform in a current series. Shoot me a PM. I have a bit of 411 on the clutch.

Although not surprising, this is a bummer. Great job on your persistence! I was considering racing mine here at CVMA but will probably still with my other bike.

I have the same problem with my V4R with leaking oil. Looks like the gasket will have to be ordered from Italy so still waiting for fix. I took the dry clutch cover off thinking it was just a little oil from the factory and took it for a spin there was a massive amount of oil that came out and was all over rear tire exhaust and rear set. Other then this the bike has been flawless and super awesome the handling on the v4r with the frame modification and Ohlins new forks has been absolutely the best I have ever experienced. The bike is worth every penny and then some it would be nice to take it too the isle of man for mad sunday. I rode it two years ago on a bmw s1000 and tried on a 1200 monster.

guess this makes my mind up for now... do not expose the clutch on my bike.

I terribly like the look and hearing the clutch when the cover it off... but i dont want to have to deal with oil leaking out. oh well... i will wait for my recall in the mail

Ducati just replaced the seal to my clutch, they said the manufacturer's seal installed at the factory were defective and there is a new part number being used for the replacement seals.

Thjanks for reporting Keith. Would you know a PN? I want to check the kit I have to make sure I have the new non-defective seal
