I decided that it would be interesting to look at some details on these two bikes. The V4 is way more expensive, $20,000 more to be exact. If anyone has questions or would like to see something additional, let me know here or in the Youtube comments. Thanks for watching (again).

Another great content video.I myself prefer the 1299SL because it's twin,I'm used to working on them and it's narrower.
Can you confirm that on the left side of the 1299SL that Ducati has added to the coolant weep hole a fitting and drainage hose that goes somewhere?

i'd think you're right...the lights and blinkers could be 20 to 25lbs total...but it'd still be heavier than the 1299SL without lights and blinker as well

I can take a look sure...would you happen to have a picture of where it is on the bike so I can recognize it more easily?

I highly doubt 20-25 pounds would come off the bike. The mirrors and rear light mount only equal about 2 pounds. Now tail light and headlights would be left....no way there would be even close to 10 pounds between the two. A person could keep going and remove more if it was a full track dedicated bike but it would be really pushing to find 20-25 pounds.

Forgot to mention, the V4 came with black plastic pieces and plugs that you can replace the headlight and taillight with and block of the electrical connections without getting errors.

I guess I was factoring in a usual swap to race bike, which doesn't apply here. Normally you would gain a lot with sub frame and front stay - which isnt the case here

Yeah, normally it would seem like that’s the case. But I just don’t see it here. Which then begs the question how Ducati came up with a 335 lb dry weight?

Thanks for answering my question. Here are 2 pictures. The first one gets you in the general area and the second picture gets you right to the spot. The white coloured tube on the second picture goes to the coolant weep hole on the side of the engine.I believe that only the 1199,1299 SL models have this hose going to the weep hole. All the other non-SL twin models just have the hole allowing any coolant leakage from the water pump seal failing to leak out and spill onto the engine.I'm asking to find out if I am correct or not in my thinking.

I can confirm that

Can I ask how does the swing arm slider fit to the arm on the V4 really could do with that on the 1299. Seat hatch cover is carbon base with the plastic on top, you are right about the plastic on the 1299 there is too much and I changed the mag front fairing frame on mine to carbon and it changed the whole look of the front.
Thanks for the vid

I didn't actually install the slider, my dealer did so I can't answer that really. Although I'm not exactly in live with the sliders so I was thinking about taking it off.
I never realized that with the seat hatch cover...seems like a backwards way doing it, exposing the plastic and covering the carbon. Regardless, they did step it up with the V4.

I agree the sloder is not so pretty but dont take if off the arm is the most expensive single part, it cost more than most top of the line bikes and the side is very thin. If you get some time please see how it fixes and photo or vid it. Are you going to the track day at Mugello? Its the main reason I wanted to buy the V4 apart from the fact its insane!

Ill try to get some video on how it’s attached, but I believe it’s the same was as any V4.
Yes, I was supposed to go to Mugello this year and I also committed to the MotoGp experience. So I’ll wait until next year And hopefully the event happens! I did ride the 1299’s at Mugello when that SL came out, including the WSBK. It was one of the most fun things I've ever done.

How was it to ride the 1299SL vs. the WSBK?

The WSB is sooooo stable. It has about 2” welded into the swingarm and it feels like it. It turns and works so well, I never felt anything else like it, obviously. The SL in comparison felt nervous and a lot more work.
Both were super fast, I couldn’t notice a difference in speed between the two at my skill level.
