What are Panigale V2 AND 899/959 Sachs Rear Shock Length(s)

I'm getting ~317mm when I measure my V2 Sachs. Has anyone else measured it?

I'm also reading the the 899/959 are only 312mm. Can anyone confirm?

I'm bringing this up because, I was of the understanding that these shocks were "compatible:" i.e., the same. It's starting to look like they're not.

I'm having a fitment issue with an aftermarket shock and am trying to get to the bottom of it. I think I may have been sent some older version of a "same" model shock that is supposed to fit the V2 but is really for the 899/959...

Good find.

IIRC, it looks like the 1199/1299 used an adjustable linkage arm. Have you considered getting one to help dial in your setup?

K-Tech says the V2 is 316mm:

And the 959 is only 310mm...

This is pissing me off because the after market shocks, including the Ohlins TTX I just bought, as supposed to fit all the 899 / 959 and V2. My manual says that it should be 317mm. But when I measure it, it's only about 312mm. Which is a length that would be appropriate for the shorter shock 899 / 959.

It for sure is the DU 569 model -- it's printed right on there. But maybe I have some older version that is ~5mm shorter and was designed for the 899 / 959 (and I think even 1199?)

Did you try lengthening it at the bottom length adjuster? You have to undo the jam nuts and unscrew the eyelet. I believe each full turn is 1 mm

Yes, they do. And yes, I have that coming. However, I think my shock is not the right shock, and that there is some kind of production discrepancy with Ohlins, that I want to get to the bottom of it.

Yes, I could just the adjustable linkage arm to make up for the ride height I will be low because of the ~5mm shock length I'm short here. However... I'm not sure that this 1199/1299 linkage, with it's flat setting option, and adjustable dog bone, are class legal. I'm experimenting with it for now, but I could very well have to take it off and put the OEM V2 proper linkage and arm back on. Thus losing the option of increasing ride height via the linkage arm. I.e., I need to be able to get the ride height I want exclusively through adjusting the shock length.

And, WTF, the shock they sent me is only ~312mm -- 5mm shorter than what it says it's supposed to be in the manual. And, it only has +4mm of length adjustability, which gets to a max length of 316mm -- which is the same as the OEM Sachs. This will not get me to where I need to be. I need to raise the rear, I'm guessing, about 5-9mm above it's current setting with the OEM shock. So my target shock length needs to be about 2-5mm longer than the OEM shock. I.e., is 318-320mm (assuming a 2:1 ratio).

Again... WTF? And I stupid, or are there two different versions of the Ohlins TTX DU 569 floating around out there?

Ducati of Omaha has the 569 listed as 312mm. The manual says 317mm. And mine sure as .... is 312mm. What is going on?

Can you adjust it to make up the 5mm?

Could it be a situation of 'compatible' vs. 'setup specifically for'?

I cannot. Not without the adjustable dogbone, which I may not be able to keep on for class specs. I can get it to the OEM length by extending the eyelet 4mm (312mm + 4 mm = 316mm), but then not have any further adjustability to lengthen, after that. Unless I can get a longer eyelet, which I haven't found.

I just want to know if they normally come as 317mm, as the instructions from Ohlins say it does, or not. If not, and mine being 312mm, then maybe I have some old model.

And if it supposed to come as 312mm, and they're selling one product and forcing it to fit three separate models, at the sake of limiting adjustability on each, that's bullshi*.

It seems it's supposed to come as a 317mm. If you look in the manual that I posted, on the top right, they recommend, for the 899, to reduce the shock length by 5mm. This would make sense, as the OEM shock length, at least as stated by K-Tech, is 310mm. So reducing a 317mm shock by 5mm would get it to 312mm. Which makes sense but, again, limits its adjustability, which is bullsh*t.
