what kinda helmet lid do you wear usually? any good recommendation?

I used to wear hjc and masei helmet ...

Used to wear, ARAI, SHOEI, AGV.... Went to the HJC RPHA-10 and have never looked back..

Different helmets fit different shaped heads. I personally wear the arai corse air for the road but the arai motocross helmets don't fit me well. You must try them on a proper fitting helmet is way more important than the paint job!!!!

different helmets fit different heads and different applications also.

i personally have 4 helmets. all have different applications.

1 track shoei x12 fits my head the best dark shield or clear pinlock
2 summer helmet bell star carbon transition shield. Best vented helmet period. loud though transition shield non pinlock shield does fog.
3 just because i have a helmet problem bell star tricolre. summer helmet when i ride the ducati. transition shield non pinlock same as above.
4 shoei rf1200 spring fall. basically same helmet as the x12. less ventilation. transition shield pin lock.

transition shields work great. for the life of me i dont know how some manufactures dont have pinlock.

from a total money factor i dont think you can do better than a bell star or bell star carbon. you can get a full carbon helmet top of the line on clearance for under 400

you ask 5 people you will probably get 5 different answers.

go into a store and see which brand fits you best, then buy the one that suits your budget.

This. Not all helmets fit everyone the same. Like reganc said, You'll have to try to find a place where you can try some on and find one that fits your head and your budget. Personally I wear an AGV Pista GP and an Arai Corsair V. No complaints with either one of them.

I'm currently wearing a carbon shark race r pro and can't fault it yet,, comfortable, visor interchange is easy my other helmet was an arai corsair v and easily had the best liner ever shame I wrecked it

Talking with a friend of mine who sells helmets and agreeing with most people here, just find the one that fits your head shape the best. There really is no right answer, any of the big manufacturers make a good helmet that is safe. Try a bunch on and whichever fits properly is your winner. Point in case I like a raise helmets but my head shape doesn't work with them at all, they would give me a headache after riding for awhile.

Schuberth SR-1 here.

I own multiple Arai helmets, and love them. But the Schuberth for the track, no question. When it was new it was torture, but now it fits like a glove (a very tight glove) and has the best aerodynamics at speed of any helmet I've worn.

Loud helmets drive me crazy, and the Schuberth is crazy quiet (quieter than my Arai helmets). The schuberth + custom ear plugs = track tranquility at 150mph+

BELL STAR, BELL STAR, BELL STAR !!!

(You old times remember when i used to do that? - What was it I said then though?)

not trying to flame anyone here at all but i just dont get the hype of the arai at all. maybe because it doesnt fit my head right but i think the corsair v is over rated and over priced.

i liked the suomy spec 1r extream but the changed the head shape so i dont know what the new one fits like

now for me its shoei or bell. shoei fits slightly better for me very slightly but the bell has better features for much less money.

truth be told i really liked the agv pista fit very well very light also very expensive and with 46 all over it no thanks.

sr-1 techonolgy fit well too but i can get 2 stars for that price.

lastly the new bell helmets are coming and they arent cheap.

I've got 5 helmets and I try to cycle through them all each time I ride.

AGV Pista GP Soleluna Monster Edition - Best looking helmet out there. Period! So I had to have it.

AGV Corsa Hand Print - Don't know why but the helmet definitely grew on me and I got it at an amazing price and couldn't pass up on it.

AGV helmets don't fit me well AT ALL. In fact, it is borderline uncomfortable but I'm still in the process of breaking them in so I'm hoping they get better soon. Regardless though, I would still buy them and plan on buying the Shark Helmet when that comes out.

HJC RPHA10 Plus Carbon Jorge Lorenzo - This helmet is very light and super comfy. The carbon just looks killer with the color combos on the helmet. Again, got it at a steal of a price so I figured why not.

Shoei X12 Bostrom B-Boz 2 Helmet. Definitely heavier than the previous 3 helmets I've mentioned but it fits like a glove and the overall comfort for my oddly shaped head is 10/10. This was my first helmet I got 2 1/2 years ago.

Bell Star Spirit Helmet - Like the X12, this helmet fits me like a glove. Another 10/10. It vents well and got this on a black friday deal last year for dirt cheap. Was definitely worth it. I wouldn't get rid of this helmet even if the day came and I had to start selling my helmets.

I wear earplugs when I ride so I can't really comment on which is louder and all that. I'm always hesitant to reach for the AGV's when it's time to ride only because of the discomfort. All my helmets are size XL and the AGV's are still realllly snug. When I used to have a Shoei X-11 10 years ago, it was a size L and fit just fine. The AGV helmets are still my favorite to look at though. It's great to have options.

for track use: HJC RPHA-10 Ben Spies signature. I'm a medium, but the small fits me the way I'd want a track helmet to. I can't wear it for more than an hour though, because it starts to hurt in one specific spot. It's also best with earplugs.

for everyday use: Schuberth C3 Pro w/integrated bluetooth. Sitting around it's not the lightest thing, but it's aerodynamically neutral and about as quiet a helmet as you're going to get. It's the Rolls Royce of helmets, and no accident that it's the helmet of choice amongst well-heeled older long-distance touring riders.

Arai Corsair V for track days
Shark Speed R for the street...I am really impressed with the Shark.
It fits good, good quality fit and finish of the helmet itself. Quiet and has a nice internal visor.

shoei hurts my head. arai always felt too tight no matter what. just doesnt work with my head. Got agv pista gp carbon and it is so light and comfortable i can now ride forever with it. like ppl said above everyone has different shape of head so there is no such thing as "the best"

The Corsair V Nicky Hayden replica is on sale ar Riders Discount until this Friday I believe for $350ish.....thats a heck of a price

I have tried most brands. For whatever reason my head changes shapes every few years, different brand/models fit better, so I gravitate to the ones that fit the best and most comfortable for my noggin.

Currently have the Corsair V Hayden replica for trackdays, and AGV Corsa Winter Test Rossi replica for street
