Im looking to upgrade and change out my seat, my bike is not yet ready for the street but i drove it around the shop area and the seat is pretty hard, i need something comfortable, so if any1 here upgraded , what did you upgrade to and how do you like it? Im about 5,10" weight about 165lbs, i like to lean on my bike so just in cosideration when sliding side to side.

Thanks guys

I went with the race seat, because it's a race bike!

It's more padded and comfier than the standard seat - although it's all relative - and I still find that my upper thighs/... cheeks ache after a couple hours. It also raises the seat height about an inch at least. At 6' with a 32'' inside leg, I don't have any problems, but I can't quite flat foot both feet at the same time anymore. Seems to help against my balls hitting the tank too!

I can't comment on the comfort seat, but it'd suggest anything is better than the stock seat - even a bed of nails!

I went with the comfort seat. I'm 6'-3" so no problems still putting my feet down.

With how ...... the roads are here in the city it was a welcome addition.

I'm using the DP comfort seat. It's world's better than the slippery/hard OEM. I'm 5'11" and can still flatfoot the bike without issue.

Saved my ...(literally) on a long trip I took recently.

DP comfort seat. My ... and balls are both now quite comfy. The standard seat had the tank ring my bells occasionally.

OEM 899 seat, the '14s and '15s have it from the factory.

The OEM 899 seat and the OEM '14 1199 are equally grippy because they share the same material but the foam and the shapes of the seats are different. The OEM 899 seat is 5mm taller than the '14 1199 seat.

right, and the 1299 has the same slightly higher but softer OEM seat as the 899, for me it's perfect.

Had the DP comfort seat for a while. Never liked the increased seat height. Went back to stock 1199 seat and sold the DP seat to a fellow forum poster. No regrets.

I went with the DP race seat, no regrets :)

Whats the deal with the race seat, is it the same height as the OEM 1199 seat or same height as the 899/1299 OEM seat?

I've seen pictures that support both. Or are there different versions of the race seat? I hate the height of my 15R OEM seat and want the lower 1199 seat back but with a grippier cover. I'm too high and above the bike I want to be in it more like I was on the 14R, even though it was like riding on a wooden seat, which was awful.

Here it looks way thinner than the 899/1299 OEM seat.

I have the DP Race seat, and the DP comfort seat, both are better than stock, but comfort seat is my favourite.

Plus it looks the goods....

The best option would be to take your current seat (whichever one you have) to an upholstery place and have it modified.

They can add as much foam as you like, they can reshape it, etc.

I have done that with every seat on every bike I have owned. On street/touring bikes, I will have 3/4-1" of foam added to the whole thing. On race bikes I will have 1/2" of foam added to the whole thing, then another layer of 1/2 foam that is shaped the same, but cut short on the sides. When it is laid on top of the other layer, it comes about 3/4" from reaching the edges. Then when the vinyl is stretched over it, it results in the seat being rounded on the edges. That makes it more comfortable when hanging off and easier to transition on.

They just remove the staples on bottom, add whatever foam you want, then staple it back. Good as new. And it never costs more than about $30.

Thank you all who posted appreciated your help and time. I think ill go with one of the comfort seats.

If you ride the bike the way it is meant to be your rear end will spend limited time in the seat.
Since when is a seat on a superbike meant to be comfortable?
