Just curious what the wheel options were at the time for the 1199 in 2013
Here’s what I thought :
1199 Base - Enkei Cast Alloy split 5 Spoke
1199S/Tri - Marchesini/Brembo 3 Spoke m9rs forged aluminum.
1199R - M9RS mags? Or mags only on 14 superleggera?
Also specifically for Tri - what were the options in 2013? Was Termi slip on standard? Full exhaust optional?
It’s difficult to find all the original hype/offers/advertisements
For older bikes .... other than here in the forums which can be tedious to delve through for all the tid bits.

Thanks! How about this?
Would the Vin # specify which model the bike came from the factory as? Base/S/Tri/R
Easiest way would be the electronic Ohlins suspension, as base model doesn’t offer it.
However, if one were to question the bikes origins, could the vin clarify it in an alpha numeric sequence “code”.
again, specifically the difference between an S and a Tricolore.

In other words, could someone put painted fairings on an S model, and pass it off as a Tricolore ? Or is there more to it?

hmmm. One more question for now.
Could the mileage on the dash be skewed ?

Background story:
I just bought at a really great price, offer I could not refuse, an 1199S Tricolore (2013).
250 miles on it. Like new condition. All stock except for a Competition Werkes fender eliminator, and unfortunately for me
Gold powder coated Enkei split 5 spoke cast wheels, that as on the base models.
Why anyone would prefer those over the stock 3 spoke March’s is anyone’s guess.
My guess is prior to sale, due to depreciated values, selling the wheels as a 200 mile take off would render the seller a few extra bucks while also being able to sell the bike as a whole for a good price and still make out ok.
Just MHO. Something anyone would do.

So, due to my questioning attitude and conspirator nature of thought, other than the highly confident information I have received based on the vin # and the dealer records of it from original sale over the years, is there another way to confidently know the bike is legitimately a Tricolore? Not just an S or even upgraded base model.
Long question I know. Thanks for anyone that reads through it though.

I totally get where u coming from wanting to make sure it is what it is,im no expert but im pretty sure the vin gotta indicate exactly what it was when leaving the factory. The fact that he put the base wheels on there instead of trying to keep it all original & get more for the bike doesnt make sense to me as i wouldnt think the hassle or the little bit of money selling them seprate would be worth it but thats me.I dont really know about the termis but im sure it wouldnt be too much trouble to that find out

You’re right about stock. With these bikes and resale most people want it stock. Nothing less at least.
For all I know the guy just liked the cast wheels powder coated better....
my understanding is the bike just kept him company while watching TV in the living room. So it’s whatever at this point. I’ve got my new kicks coming, and I’m almost certain the bike is completely legit. I haven’t yet found proof otherwise. It’s almost too good to be true..... which is why I question it.
I get over that a bit more every step of “my build” anyway.

What was the price, homie?

Post some pix of it keeping YOU company watching tv!

You should take that bike down to your local dealership and have them decode the vin for u. Also, run any updates... maybe wait until the 600 mile mark for an oil change, renew brake fluids (including clutch action) timing belts and for now, suspension fluids

I know it sounds like a lot but I just went through all this with a 5 year old 1299 that I bought with low miles. There are time tables to stick to

Is this your first Ducati?
Do u plan to ride it and enjoy it?
Will you be performing maintenance or let the experts handle it?

Welcome aboard, Savage!

Thank You DucatiKev !
I would prefer not to divulge financials but I will say that after all was said and done I acquired a basically new bike (250mi.)aside from it being 7 years old for about 65-70% off original selling price. I didn’t think that was so bad.
Con - it came with base model painted wheels. (Not the worst of possible CON’s by far).
That being said, it is my second Panigale.

Already scheduled an appointment at my Duc shop, but for later on.
I checked records of maintenance on bike with its original shop, and it seems it was brought in annually for service since it’s production sale, with an average of about 30 mi a year put on it.
I definitely expect to break her in right then ride the hell out of her.
Im currently just chipping away at a few performance and cosmetic mods, enjoying the garage tinkering time while it’s F’n cold outside.
I’m pretty mechanically inclined and will do a lot of work myself, but I also know my limits and how a good experienced Ducati tech can save me in the long run.
I will definitely be asking questions, replying to posts, posting pics, and participating as much as time allows here..... as long as I own the bike, there will always be more to learn.
Thanks Again Bro!

Tri’s dont really bring more money then the regular paint 1199s. I wouldnt worry too much about it. You have a nice bike there, just get rid of those base model wheels

Those wheels

I thought I did pretty well picking up my 1299S with Akra for $15K

I’m not so sure about that. I get the paint is the difference, but the actual tri is much more difficult to find For Sale over the others. Either way I have another awesome Panigale
to play with. Can’t wait for warmer days and all my $h!t on order. Lol.

Another Question : Stock Termi slip ons - Why would I want to upgrade to Titanium Collectors? Aside from looks or weight? Just curious - On the fence
