who uses steering lock stop protectors?

Used R&G lockstop proctectors on my 1199 and V4. Tested them on the 1199 with a small highside and they saved the tank :)

yeah was looking at those versus the spider one..... the spider seems to limit the steering lock to lock more.

I use the R&G but it can interfere with aftermarket clip-ons. I think the spider takes the place of the horn. If you’re track only and using aftermarket clip-ons I’d go with the Spider.

yeah, I have the spider one, it really limits the steering range. I would not recommend it for the street, but fine for a track bike,

R&G. Not as elegant as Spider, but cheaper and only a small influence on the lock.

@andyb if you're using the Spider damper mount, it will interfere with the R&G stops. I couldn't remember what combination didn't work when I tried using aftermarket clip-ons until now.

I have the Spider clipons and steering damper bracket and I think the R&G ones are ok.... but you've got me thinking now, so I will check in the garage later today to see if there is any minor interference while I have all the bodywork off. (I have used it on track for a while with this configuration)

I was but ive changed it now. On the spider one to the rear of this steering damper mounting, there is a nut and bolt that holds its two half together. I suspect this is what would get in the way of the RG bump stop.

I have got the CNC racing clipons and the steering damper clamp. It was a bear to install, the clutch and brake lines are maximum stretched as the "clamping part" of the clip ons are very large and sticks out a bit. This pushes the brake and clutch pups a bit further out, stretching the hoses to the max...not so good.

At the same time the damper clamp was touching the front frame. I had to increase the mechanical steering stops to the absolute max to reduce the movements of the fork to be able to install this stuff. I had to bend the steel parts of the hoses and reroute a bit to get them long enough.

This is concluding to that I will also add some type of steering stop rubbers to save the situation a bit.

I use this one.
I hope I didn't misunderstand what is the purpose of this thread.

Yep, the Spider SD clamp protrusion for the bolt just touches the R&G lock stop before the fork leg hits the bumpers.
Crap photos, but it was freezing out there!

are the RG protectors the same both sides? like your picture ending 302?

Just a clarification. There are a couple of R&G designs I’ve seen. The version pictured above stops the fork leg between the upper/lower triple clamp? I’ve seen another design a single plastic bumper mounted at the top triple too.

So as an update I got the RG lock stop protectors. on the face of it quite a simple bit of kit but effective.

However, with my FGRT forks that have a swaged top so a more narrow diameter than the std one, the RG nylon bungs sit back from the fork 5mm at full lock, and the bottom bung sits on the taper change of diameter.

I quite like the simplicity of their design so Ive set about modifying it to suit my purpose. Ive added another mounting between the two bung so I can have them both sitting and touching the fork at full lock on the same diameter piece of fork, also turned two new bungs of nylon to extend to the 5mm and touch the fork at just before full lock on the lock stops..........

Simples.... engineering innit.
