will rossi win the title at valencia?

This garbage confirms you are either mentally deficient or a terrible troll. Lorenzo was handed a factory Yamaha for his first GP bike. Honda changed the rules so they could hand Marquez a Repsol Honda for his first year in GP, coming off a Repsol Honda in Moto 2. In case you haven't noticed the best get offered the best .....
But that doesn't suit your purple nonsense!
Ah, the Ben Spies rule!

When I say handed to him im not talking the bike. I'm talking rules tires etc.

Case in point the Michelin that lorenzo really liked suddenly disappeared this year for the ones rossi wanted. Problem is marquez likes those too

Vinales interview: Not intimidated by Rossi's reputation

Vinales interview: Not intimidated by Rossi's reputation

Motorsport.com chats to MotoGP's rising star Maverick Vinales as the Spaniard concludes his tenure with Suzuki, before departing to Yamaha to partner Valentino Rossi.

Maverick Vinales is the second youngest rider in the MotoGP field and is taking leaps forward at the same speed that he rides his Suzuki with.

This year, his second in the premier class, he looks set to finish a very credible fourth - and is still within reach of third-placed Jorge Lorenzo, the rider who he will be replacing at Yamaha next year.

In this interview with Motorsport.com, Vinales, who took his maiden victory at Silverstone earlier this season, says he feels ready for the biggest challenge of his career so far.

He insists he will start next season with the goal of taking the title, something that Valentino Rossi, his teammate at Yamaha, will not make an easy goal to achieve.

How do you rate your individual performance and the bike's performance this season?

Considering what we are achieving and given our position in the championship I would give myself between an 8.5 and a 9, and the same for the bike. We have grown together. Our goal this year was to finish sixth and I'm fourth - and still have the opportunity to be third.

What is the team missing to establish itself among the top ones?

It's lacking experience. Every race we feel better and that comes with experience. We have been at the front, fighting, in quite a few races, and but when the moment comes it's hard to get everything right.

From the outside, one gets the feeling that Suzuki is a team that's different than the rest, fresher and less strict.

I would say that we are like a family and that creates a very good atmosphere. Maybe in the other teams there is also that good feeling but you don't see it from the outside, but it's true that we are very united.

Are you sorry you are leaving?

I wouldn't say I'm sorry. At the start I had many doubts, leaving was a very tough decision. In any case, after having won a grand prix and scoring several podiums I don't feel so bad, because in a way I have returned the trust that the team put in me.

In what areas have you personally improved the most?

Compared to last year, especially in the riding, although that's also thanks to the step forward the bike has taken. Now I can push more. It's not the same to approach the weekend thinking 'let's see what I find', to doing it knowing that, in normal conditions, you can fight for the podium.

It was difficult approaching the races that way last year. The motivation is not the same when you know that your natural position is, say, 11th. To me it's very important to know that I can win, that makes me feel more at ease and be more focused.

Was Suzuki the best place for you to grow like you have?

If I could have used this bike last year, now I would possibly ride even better. But it's also true that being able to grow and learn in peace, without the pressure of having to get results, probably helps you make fewer mistakes.

In any case, when you make that jump is when you can fight in front consistently, against the fastest. Had I had this bike last year, maybe I could have fought for the title this season.

In the pre-season you admitted that you were eager to learn from the quickest. What have you learned from them?

I especially look at how their bikes work and that's very useful. For example: one weekend we have acceleration problems and we are focused on that, but in reality we are braking too early and we are losing time there.

When you are running with the fastest riders, you can see where you are and what your bike is missing. That helps a lot.

You were also curious about how aggressive you would have to be starting from the first places on the grid, especially on the first corners.

I'm starting pretty well, I imagined it would be that way. You have to be very aggressive to move up as much as you can and stay there. I would say it's probably the most important part in the majority of the races.

How many times have people warned you about what you will face next year at Yamaha, with Rossi as your teammate?

The only thing that will change is that I'll be riding a Yamaha and that the goals will be different. A teammate means having a reference and that way you know what the bike's level is. But it's obvious that he's the first one you have to beat.

Don't you feel extra pressure knowing that you are replacing Jorge Lorenzo and that you will be measured against Rossi?

Well, Aleix [Espargaro] has also been a very tough rival for us, because last year he was right there every weekend, and when that happens you give 200 percent.

What is the next step you have to take?

I have to join a team with more experience, which is what I'm missing. All the experience the technical team that I'll have next year has will help me a lot. Now I know what it's like to start in the front and be there all race long.

respect a guy that has had everything handed to him since he got to gp and cry when things dont go your way i dont think so. please disprove the tire allegations, sabotaging stoner to yamaha, threatening to quit, the introduction of spec tires, the made up notion of marquez helping lorenzo, and the thought that he deserves 10 just because he is rossi. also the honda in the early years was so dominant that anybody on it would have won.

Ok so about being handed stuff to and the game being rigged towards him there could be some sense in it. But how do you put yourself in a position that the whole industry wants and helps you to win ? I think that is a skill as well worth respecting. Also when 46 jumped to Yamaha that year was not handed to him by any means! I do believe that 93 is faster now and will be. His reflexes and talent are beyond. But perhaps it is impossible at this age to win a gp crown and coming second is pretty amazing. Last year I honestly was depressed and wanted to cry when that nonsense happened and this is the only blemish on him in my book. I did not expect him to recover from it honestly but he did. Stoner for me is a talented guy and respect him for that and for his unbendable principles, but he as well is not perfect and also going fishing and let everyone hanging and thinking what could be is a .... move. Athletes in that level have a responsibility to society to keep performing and entertaining and Stoner bailed. Rossi on the other hand keeps going beyond age limit. Maybe he does it cause he is greedy for money or fame or maybe he does it because he loves racing a motorcycle. I prefer the latter. Think of it this way if he was not on the grid now what would we talk about now ? Crutchlow and his baby ? Or dani and his collarbones, or Lorenzo and his what ???? Idk sour face :)

This article reminds me of books on famous painters. They spend 1000 pages discussing why the painter used this shade of green for the pot plant or why he put a figure in some particular spot. I'm sure the painter was just thinking 'oh that's a nice pot plant and figure, where's my paint and brushes'. Sure it's relevant and an admirably academic piece of research but it's still part removed from the real world. Rossi just likes riding bikes and is good at spinning an image.

The greatest thing Vinales can learn from Rossi is image, personality, charisma, fan appeal, all pr stuff. The kid can ride. Valentino is not going to be around much longer and Moto GP is going to need a replacement.

Completely disagree on the Lorenzo being not able to ride Ducati properly. If we look at Ianone riding style is very similar to Jlo high corner speed he is not as smooth that's the only difference, breaking style and corner exit are very similar. Dovi on the other hand more of a Stoner pick me up and drive me style. I think the only issue Lorenzo will have is himself - the guy needs everything to be at 100% to his liking and then he is unbeatable but achieving that with a new bike is not easy. However when he just joined MotoGP he took pole in first race so he can adapt. Another positive factor is that he will be BIG number 1 in Ducati so that will play to his ego and confidence so i think unless Ducati fuxxcks up the bike over winter or Yamaha and Honda make a big step Lorenzo will be a contender. Oh yes and about remarks that Rossi sucks or crying about the championship i think those people should shut up. Guys we are talking about the person that overcame age and very strong competitors to be on the top and he is the number 1 reason 60% of people even know about moto gp. Just respect the doctor and what he has achieved and keeps doing still. Its very east to criticize while watching from the couch. It takes tremendous effort to race even at club level and to be competitive in motogp for decades that is beyond human possibilities and also it is an emotional strain. I agree he played last year end wrong way and perhaps was not aggressive enough in a few races but still these negative remarks are uncalled for.

Take it easy there pal. It's our duty as armchair quarterbacks and PFPs (professional forum poster) to criticize those that 'can do' when we can't. :D That's what bench racing is all about. Mark just has a very special place in his heart for Rossi so, Val gets lots of love from him hahah!!

Athletes in that level have a responsibility to society to keep performing and entertaining and Stoner bailed.
Wrong! That's a misconception and responsibility that we fans place on them. Their only true responsibility is to their family, themselves, religion and contract. Anything beyond that is wishful thinking. To the best of my knowledge, Stoner was true to at least three of those.

Ugh, I hope not. The series doesn't need another guy that complains constantly when he doesn't win or accuses his competitors of conspiring against him or kicking other riders when he gets passed on the track

What is that the series needs according to you than ?
Claims that 46 kicked 93 are for tabloids and people who cant tell a difference between motogp and SBK. If you are a real pro fan of motogp and watch it carefully and dissect everything you see than you d know what happened. Your foot never slipped of the peg when track riding or racing ? Have you ever made contact in track ? Common be realistic

I never claimed the series needed anything but, seeing you asked, IMO, it needs more factory teams. The privateer teams are just grid filling, rolling chicanes. As for the kick,..... c'mon man really? You're boy looked left (correction, he actually did a double take), rode through the turn-in point then hit Marquez with a side karate kick at which time MM went down. Are you really saying that Val's foot slipped off the peg at that very moment when he was on the brakes going straight lol? Admit it, he pulled a BS, rank amature move that no multi-time champ should ever do.

***Edit***
Here, I got you a few things seeing your eyes and memory seem to be failing you :D . That's one hell of a foot slip

Going pretty slow and doing a lot of rubbernecking to be pushing hard enough for the so called "foot slip"...

Since everyone wants to open old wounds, my take is the only thing Rossi did wrong was wait to long to wreck him, he should have taken the little ....... out right off the bat and not played with him so long.
