Will there be a 1299R

who's to say they can't sell 500 1199Rs for racing and the 1299R for the street?

Why?

The purpose behind the R is to:

1. have a homologated race machine that stays under current rules.
2. to have internals that are built to withstand the abuse a bike sees on the track (majority of time spent at max RPM's)
3. to have lighter internals that spin up faster for racing.

None of those things are necessarily nor applicable on the street.

It would be a huge waste of R&D, time and money to build a bike that has no street purpose and doesn't fit into any race categories.

In other words, there is just no sense in it.
