2013 1199 Panigale Base model ... track only bike now. I started getting a discoloration on the Termi cans. So decided to repack the cans. At first I was looking for generic repacking materials, but then realized that Termi/Ducati made a repack kit for them. Definately the way to go as it has all the correct packing, rivets and new straps.

The glass matting had started to melt due to the hard running on the track. It is a glass matt surrounding the metal wool interior. Each tube is fully wrapped. The new packings were identical in construction.

2013 1199 Panigale Base model ... track only bike now. When I originally got the bike, I found the play in the throttle to be a real issue on the track. Very difficult to module the throttle in corners, particularly long corners with a fair amount of neutral throttle.

So I installed one of the throttle spacer kits from these guys. Helped a great deal, but there was still some play. That play was due to the plastic pin in the throttle housing being smaller than the hole in the clip on tube. I first tried adding some epoxy to the hole, but that did not last. I just recent tried taking a small punch and gently peaning the area around the hole in the clip on to reduce the ID. That seems to have worked as the throttle housing has near zero play with respect rotational slop. Seems any moving on the throttle now will translate into inputs to the engine.

Time will tell later this spring ...

Been busy with the maintenance work ..

- rebuilt front forks with new seals/oil
- new front brake pads
- flush all hydraulics
- oil change
- Replaced the rear quick change kit, had gotten some wear and was "loose"
- clean air filter
- misc clean and inspect

Where did you get the rebuild kit for the termignoni mufflers? I need to replace the front straps on mine and could not find the parts anyhwere.. please share the link or kit you got for this?

I found the Ducati Termi kit on eBay ... will dig out the kit number for you. Having gone through this, I will say that the kit made for a much better repack than trying to use generic repack material.

Ducati Omaha has a listing: 96480611A - SILENCER OVERHAUL KIT 1199 - SBK

I've been thinking of ordering another one before they go not available

Awesome, thanks for sharing this as I just ordered it and good idea to do the rebuild and repacking on the mufflers.

Did you have any issues getting it apart and rebuilding it or no (drill remove rivets, pull ends off and put new material in)?

Going back to your original post my winter project is I'm rebuilding my 1199 engine completely; I've started a thread in the 1199 forum called 1199 rebuild if you want to check it out!

Seth, the only issue I had in getting the mufflers apart was not realizing you have to remove the muffler hanger bracket before the end cone will come off. (in hind sight this should have been obvious)

The bracket actually threads into a portion of the end cone stamping that has threaded nuts (on the interior).

Drilling out the rivets can be a bit fussy - just have to use sharp drills.

I did find that I needed to get a heavy duty rivet installer - these cans use beefy rivets.

And, yeah, I've been watching your 1199 rebuild thread ... very cool.

Did it end up working? I repacked my exhaust with Acousta-Fil which advertised that you don't need to reuse the steel wool. Well they were wrong, ended up burning up and I ended up just buying new cans.

I've only had opportunity to run the bike in the shop ... time will tell how well it stands up to track running ...
