I ordered a set of Woodcraft clip-ons to go with some new switchgear. They came with extra long bars which are 13.5". I think the normal ones are 11" or so.

Obvious jokes being too obvious, is longer better or is it just so you can cut them down to the length you want? I'm just getting into the aftermarket clip-on game.

Did you ever end up installing these? Looking at getting a set myself for the extra length.

Anyone else running the Woodcrafts? Any fitment issues with hitting the fairings? Can I run the stock switches with this if I drill the bars for the locating dowels or is that just a bad idea?

I'm teetering on the jet-prime QAT, integrated right switch and matching left switches with the Woodcraft bars and Stock clutch and brake MCs but was going to maybe wade in with just the clip ons to start. Again, unless someone here knows that to be a fool's errand from experience.

TIA

I had a problem with their damper mount. After a little back and forth, they sent some inserts to allow it to sit on the smaller diameter section of the fork. Otherwise they're fine. Sturdy and very cheap replacement bars. On a side note, you can get the stock Ducati bars from overseas, probably from Ducati's OEM for them, for cheaper than you can buy them from a dealer here, but shipping takes a while. I think I paid for two with shipping for what one would cost from Ducati Omaha.

I didn't end up keeping the Woodcraft since the lower damper position interferes with the R&G lock stop savers I'm using.

I stuck my tow in the pool of aftermarket bars and buttons, only to come full circle. You spend a lot of money and will fit compatibility issues along the way. It's a cool looking setup, but not really necessary at my level. It was more of a winter project than a need.

The extra long bars are a pain if you want the same length as oem. The regular bars measure out to the same length as oem without bar ends, so I ordered the regular length and cut down the long bars to the same length. If you don’t cut down the extra long bars, you’ll run into clutter issues around the triple tree.

The steering damper clamp is annoying, but works. Mine came with the adapter plates @bp_SFV4 mentioned. They’re a must. I went to aftermarket clip ons and switches because my bike is a track bike and I want a more robust and easy to replace setup. However initial setup was a giant pain, once accomplished it will be easier to replace than the 20+ tiny parts that are associated with the oem clip ons. If you have a streetbike and don’t plan on crashing, my advice is stay oem. Aftermarket is a pain haha

I use the longer bars, if you are a taller rider they are a must have, but even if not the longer bar gives better leverage and therefore reduces fatigue at the track a bit…as long as you aren’t so short that they stretch you out to an uncomfortable position
