Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that the factory bikes are not running the electronic Ohlins suspension? Does anyone have any reasoning why they are not?
Just wondering if the electronic Ohlins is more of a street / trackday feature? After reading how awesome it is I'm surprised they're not running it on the race bikes.

Yeah cause they have Techs to switch the suspension setup on the fly so the convinience of the DES isn't needed. BMWs new dynamic suspension system with electronic suspension sencing and changing everything on the fly with prob be the future once further refined.

Thanks for the replies. I was under the assumption at the DES actually adjusted the suspensions depending on the riding mode selected actively. Meaning that if the bike was being raced at the track the DES would be actively making adjustments during each lap. Sounds like the DES is really just a replacement for a screwdriver for adjusting the compression and rebound.

Does anyone have any comments on how good the stock forks are with 30mm Ohlins cartridges vs the Ohlins that come on the S model?

Appreciate the feedback.

Electronic suspension control is outlawed in WSBK per the rules.

The DES suspension is "consumer grade" and not meant for racing. The WSBK gas charged forks are the top tier product and have a much wider range of manual adjustment than the production electronic versions. I have researched this re the DUCATI because I have WSBK Ohlins gas charged forks on my other race bike. I will eventually replace the 1199 forks too - as soon as someone makes a triple for the FGRT 300 forks.

Going to talk to Mike the termos man tomorow about the FGRT 300 Forks so he can revalve them for me.

As above the DES stuff is handy for the street but is of no use in racing. The reason the electronic stuff is banned is to stop what the BMW and MTS now have - the active suspension. The Panigales is as you said, just a motor that adjust its instead of having to do it by hand.
I doubt you will find a Panigale even in club racing using it as anybody who wants to be competitive will replace the internals with aftermarket kits as the stock stuff is the typical lower spec stuff that you get with production bikes.

Exactly, why I got the Base, and will update the shocks eventually. Or you could install one of these obno shock-stealth devices, and no one would have any idea what you are running!

No kidding! It is covering the best parts! I think this is the first CF part I have seen that covers more bike than the piece it is replacing. Reminds of of Jay's suit, and it is German. :D

Did someone say German?

So....you are gonna upgrade to the superbike forks? lol

Troy Corser and Troy Bayliss admitted that some of their race bikes had electronic suspension, similar to the new BMW HP 4 but it was outlawed by WSBK rules to try and keep costs down and gibve an even playing field.

We now have them on road bikes

Enjoy

DES = for outside road surface/bumps in many countries.
WSBK suspension = for controlled road surfaces/tyres..enviornment....
