Another intensely boring race, wsbk is the nascar of motorcycles, with one rider crew chief package stinking up the show. The more rules they change the more boring the show gets. rpm limits, fixed gear ratios, pitiful.

I tend to agree with you. Next year it’s spec ECU too. I’m much more inclined to go ride the panigale or drive my new Shelby Rustang than watching WSB or Motogp on Sunday mornings. I’ve lost interest since PJ and Jake are back markers and no Americans in motogp. Just not into it much.

Can someone explain to me why WSB changed the RPM limit on the Panigales when its the Kawasaki's that are Dominating like crazy. Also Why limit the Twins rpm when it is already much lower due the nature of a twin? I just dont get it. Ducati is busting their ass trying to make the bike run and keep up but DAYUM this is crazy.

It wasn’t the JR show in Australia or Donnington so he hasn’t dominated every race or race weekend when Melandri and VDM pulled doubles. He just hasn’t had any issues and scored well every round. Now I do agree it was an uneventful race but impressive that he beat Foggy’s wins to take all time lead.

Ive never followed WSBK that much. I follow MotoGP and used to follow AMA superbike. I know the names and have watched some races over the years. Can someone explain why they race 2 races? And how they point system works with the 2 races? If say Rea places 1st in one race and 3rd in the second race. Does he then get point for 1st place and 3rd place and they get added up for that day?

Same as MotoGP points per race but you have two races per weekend instead of one. So yes, they get added together for weekend total and to overall total

Thanks for the info. Do you think Rea will make the jump to Motogp if either a factory team or satellite team offers him a seat? Iannone just signed with Aprilia. I read that in a post someone put up today.

I don’t know. Rea has a pretty good thing going and very successful with KRT and he’s not a young guy in the sport so my guess is he’ll stay in WSBK but who knows.

Wsbk is good and Rea is so consistant that hes hard to beat. Rarely makes mistakes.

The last moto america races were fantastic. Im going to the races in pittsburgh this year.

No reason for Rea to go from factory WSB to satellite Motogp bike and finish mid or be a back marker. WSB used to be real trick bikes till they got bought by Motogp who promptly neutered it in terms of allowable mods and updates. It’s pretty much superstock now as no kit cams, valves, cranks, airboxes and other goodies. Back in the day these same parts were supposed to be available for sale to anyone and yes they were always on back order and it’s was rare for a private team to get them. But the factory guys had really trick WSB bikes. I was at Laguna in 1997 for WSB and it was awesome. So now WSB is the NASCAR of bike racing and it’s lost some of its appeal to me.

I'm not disagreeing with you , but

a 2018 bmw, yam, Kaw, hondo, duc, would be -from the show room floor - more loaded with trick goodies than a bike from the good old days.

bikes today come stock loaded with trick parts. the trend is now the rule so no going back IMO. an example of how this is the lap times of wsbk vs motogp

imagine trying to differentiate the production from the prototype racing if you were in charge . again IMO it has been very hard to make hay for both motogp and wsbk with the blurred lines we've been experiencing due to the Motorcycle climate and the shrinking gap between the two (motogp N wsbk)

Not much right. Boring? Slow Panigale? Rea doesnt make mistakes.. Hoho.. :)
Race 2 was a blast!

Yep great race 2. 5 other racers besides JR have won this season.

The problem is with the new rules, it has come at Ducati's expense, it's no big deal to cut the revs of a 4 banger. If dorna wants more parody let the other teams test more.
I wouldn't be complaining at all if Ducati was winning every race,it's a great pity Ducati was not able to out bid Kawasaki for him.

If Ducati threatens to pull out of WSBK at the end of whatever year. they will get what rules they want adjusted. WSBK needs all the Manufactures. Suzuki needs to get their ass into the party. .... throw a one rider team in the series. They only need one rider for moto america. Tony Elias is spanking everyone at will.

Its still boring because its false with all the individual handicaps, it should be about who produces the best bike and riders, as soon as they do that they handicap them, should be that there are base rules for all like BSB then its up to the rest like Yamaha to catch up.
To be fair the only reason Yamaha have won in the last two is because they handicapped the Kawasaki and Ducati,....and changed the 2nd grid line up, Yamaha did not need to raise their bar to win the rest just lowered theirs, whats next they have to run a 959?

The talk is that the BSB effort may have a run at WSBK next season for Suzuki. Ducati will probably grumble a bit, but they have the V4 coming to the grid next year and at this point, nobody really knows how competitive it will be. Just IMHO though.
