No reason for Rea to go from factory WSB to satellite Motogp bike and finish mid or be a back marker. WSB used to be real trick bikes till they got bought by Motogp who promptly neutered it in terms of allowable mods and updates. It's pretty much superstock now as no kit cams, valves, cranks, airboxes and other goodies. Back in the day these same parts were supposed to be available for sale to anyone and yes they were always on back order and it's was rare for a private team to get them. But the factory guys had really trick WSB bikes. I was at Laguna in 1997 for WSB and it was awesome. So now WSB is the NASCAR of bike racing and it's lost some of its appeal to me.
