I opened my gas tank today just to examine the screws holding the gas cap and one is missing I'm wondering if it went in the gas tank and if so how much damage could it do?

I've searched high and low, and I know I've seen some bike here that has the carbon fiber trim underneath the seat, in the rear subframe. I'm inquiring how one goes about installing those pieces. From what I can see the subframe has to be removed/lifted to gain access..... unless I'm missing...

Or in a "raw" state. By hand, it feels raw and leaves an oxide on the white part of my leathers where they rub against the tank. I was going to apply the TankSlapper 3M clear protective covering kit; but am not sure if this is the right thing to do if the tanks are actually unfinished...
