I own a ‘18 Supersport. Absolutely love this bike, but have wanted to scratch the Panigale itch for a while. Got a great trade in offer from my local dealer for an inbound ‘22 V2 arriving next week. Anyone made the transition? Regrets? I realize I’ll be trading comfort for performance. I’ve set the Supersport up for sport touring (touring windscreen, heated grips, ducabike bar risers) and it’s really a wonderful and grossly under-appreciated bike. Just wondering how miserable I’m going to be on a150-200 mile ride and if any of you have made this transition and regret it or love it and never looked back. (For background: I do maybe 1-2 track days per year, and have an R18 and a KTM 350 EXC-F In the garage). Thanks.

If you can make it happen financially, I’d say hang onto the ss and ride the v2 for the season or a few weeks and then decide. Only way to know for sure. Everyone else has different wants and needs in a bike. Since you have the parts and time invested into your ss and you love it, it would be a shame to regret letting it go if you realize the v2 isn’t for you.
Full disclaimer I haven’t ridden a v2 or ss, but I have a hyper1100, 748 and sfv4s. All three get ridden depending on my mood or plan for the day. I am super happy I didn’t sell one when my sfv4 arrived.

It depends on your riding style and how tall you are.
If you are used to gripping the tank with your knees with little weight on your wrists - them you’ll be fine.

Taller riders will struggle more as well.

fwiw - I’ve done a few 1000 mile weekends on the V2 and had no issues.

As others said, you will have to decide how the V2 would work for you. I can tell you that I love my V2, but it is not my preferred weapon for slow or longer rides. I have other motorcycles for slow traffic/congested rides and for longer rides. The V2 is terrible at slow, in-town riding, or for long (non-twisty) rides for me. I can handle a few hundred miles a day MAX with several breaks on my V2. Heck, I jump on a 125cc Honda Grom (beefed up) when I want to run around town in traffic or lots of parking lots, and it always keeps a smile on my face. It is unlikely that you will enjoy sport touring on the V2 (not even factory-heated grips options for the V2) with the riding position and suspension setup, but then again, you did mention you have other bikes.

I went from 18 SS to 21 V2. I had zero regrets. The SS has plenty of power and torque but the look, feel and sound of the V2 won me over (also the SS was totaled after someone ran a stop sign and wiped me out so it was time for a new toy.) The one thing I would mention is the hand vibration is pretty significant on the V2 from the SS. Otherwise, both are very comfortable and a blast to ride. That being said, I live in Hawaii so my riding is commuting to work in traffic and pleasure riding outside of work hours. I can't speak for long distance touring on either bike. I have a Harley Streetglide for that anyway. Best of luck!

Thanks for the input. Not that much inventory locator right now. At my local dealer, I’ll have to wait until April or May for a ‘22 V2. There’s a slightly discounted leftover ‘21 V2 at a dealer about 2 hrs away. Interestingly, for $1,000 more (out the door) this dealer also has used ‘19 V4 with very low miles and a couple nice mods. Would any of you have pulled the trigger on a V4 in this situation? I may drive up and test ride both this weekend if I can escape.
