All,

Just to give everyone a heads up that I recently purchase 3 sets of CF for the bike from various vendors to see quality V's price.

Key Ignition cover - Conquest Carbon (ebay) - Good quality - reasonable price $135 AU. Other places wanted upto $180+

Rear spring cover - RCmatte (ebay) - great quality - 1/2 price compared to everyone else - $60AU, other places were $100+

Tank cover - Carbon World (ebay) - ok quality - cheap price $75AU

The point I wanted to get across was that RCmatte is from Hongkong. The quality was excellent, delivery was fast and the price was excellent. Not everything from Hongkong is dodgy.

It is hard to justify $400 for a genuine Ducati hugger when RCmatte have them for $139AU and the quality of product is very high.

Your lucky,I got the RC ignition switch panel and the fit was crap. I had to run a 1.5 mm bigger drill bit through the central bolt holes so they could be screwed in and also had to take a grinder to the underside as the bolt tubes were too long and not even perpendicular to each other. I got it almost right, but not very satisfied. Ya pays your money as they say. Dont think i"ll use them again. Just weighing up some Ilmburger stuff from Germany, prices are competetive and i believe their stuff is good. I"ll post my opinion when my hugger gets here in about a week.;) I"m no carbon fibre guru but I think my RC item is glass fibre with a carbon top layer, correct me if i"m wrong. The items you have just bought how do they appear on the underside? do they all look similar?

Let me know how it all looks in another 3 yrs.

Like all cheap Carbon products you get what you pay for and longetivity is definetly not one of their better points.
I have Ducati Carbon and Carbon Dream on my 996R and it is still as good as the day I bought it in 2001.

Thier stuff is better than good, good choice on your carbon Supduc you wont be disapointed.

Shame about the RC experience, I had no issues.

I agree that you can get what you pay for but for genuine Ducati at 300% I personally can't justify that.

The RC Matte to me appeared solid CF not fibreglass backed, but I am no expert.

I'll let you know when the hugger turns up (from RC Matte) what it is like.

Nice one. I"ve just eyed up the Ilmburger ignition cover, didnt see it the other day and they have re-designed it!!! They include a new mounting bracket now and do away with the 2 central bolts next to the switch. So you have a nice uninterrupted smooth panel with just the outer bolts showing. An additional 2 bolts attach the panel to the bracket I mentioned, but they are mounted low down on thefront edge almost out of sight. Looks dead neat, think i"ll order that too and lash the RC item on ebay.

Thanks Wall, enough said. I"ll stick with this brand. I know we all like a bargain, but as you said about the stuff you"ve had since 2001 still looking good,it doesn"t pan out in the long run if you go cheap. I"m already gonna junk the RC iggy cover, that was £50 odd I think and get the Ilmburger item for £75. Two steps taken when it should have taken one. Never mind,we live and learn. Stay safe.;)

fyi shift tech sells two different quality cf, the prices for the lower quality are maybe half the others. They site the reason it's cheaper (and they say alot of the cheap carbon out there is actually a combo carbon and fibreglass)

here's an example. I've got a lot of respect for shifttech for being open about this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/STCFG002-DU...rcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3555a7e4

so you have lots of choices. I went hog wild years ago on my 996 with cf, since that time, I haven't bought any cf.

the only thing i dont agree with is the key ignition cover . the only one i would get is from cdt. i know its a little more money but its the only one that has rubber around the edges to protect the other surfaces . just my opinion

I bought a lot of stuff from shift tech and I find it's really good quality and doesn't fade. you also get 10% off and free shipping if your a ducati forum member.

Quick question... is the heat shield made of ceramic like it says or is it CF and lost in translation? It's $512 for it which seems pretty damn high. Does anyone have one of these?

I dunno about that. You"ve got to ask tho, what does the CCC stand for on the little rivetted plate. Makes me think of carbon discs. Thats a good picture that cos you can clearly see that the heat shield carbon weave definitely looks different to the hugger.

I've been ordering up Ilmberger parts and this heat shield is composite carbon ceramic (hence the CCC on the label) and is able to shield more heat than any of the other shields on the market including DP...

Sounds good to go then. I"ll be sorting my exhausts out over the winter. I"ll get one of these if it will fit my new system.

Yeah Ceramic is the ideal material for this. Do you have this?

Hey I saw the OE Desmo CCC vent that goes in the top of the seat unit on ebay last week and the guy was asking about £1200 for it. I believe Ferrari made this item for Ducati cos they were the only company able at the time.

Damn lol. I'll probably grab this next month, would like to get front/rear fender, front inlays, swing arm cover and shock cover. I don't like the ABS plastic.
