no more new 1199's since they have 1299's out now? damn i just got my bike last year and i thought it was pretty new and now they don't make them anymore lol

You're worrying about nothing, you still have a hot bike that will leave most standing ;)

I'm lucky enough to upgrade to a 2015 model, but give it a year I'll be out of date too, I'm sure!!!

A good rider on an 1199 is still easily capable of decimating a mediocre rider on a 1299/15R/SL.

The rider continues to be the thing that matters most.

As far as I see it when I ride my 14' Base Model, I am riding the newest and sexiest toy to date. Regardless of what is out there. But then again I haven't run across a SL on the road yet, when that happens I will ponder it for a second and go back to my feeling.

Besides, your only talking about the engine designation, the Panigale is very much alive!!

I think you should sell it...its an old crappy model and you should get the latest iteration instead....

Honestly until someone can outride the 12-14 models engine and chassis there is no reason to get bugged by this at all. We all go the same speed on the street and 99% of us on the track have a limit these bikes exceed.

I wouldnt be caught dead on a 1199. Its so 2011.

That's why I bought the 1299 because my friends would point and laugh at me if I didnt have the newest and greatest out everytime.

I found out the 848 Evo was going to be released hours after paying for my 848. I was pissed about that and understand where you are coming from but I agree with b9009b. You still have a fantastic ride that exceeds most of the other bikes on the road, enhance your skills before your bike.

You missed my point

I was thinking about trading my 12 BASE in for a 1299 when it was getting some warranty work done. I was saved from that impulse by the fact that they weren't in yet.
After getting my bike back because of the latest upload ect. the thing felt even faster. I don't get to ride much so when I do ,I run it hard, last weeks ride was amazing, the bike has loosened up, suspension is compliant at speed over the rough stuff to here I can stay in the seat over it, on the final uphill strait to Platina I loafed through the last right hand sweep under a 100, short shifted up a couple of gears looked down and was going over 150 effortlessly , I realized I had enough bike still.

We will all have to upgrade when the SP version comes out next year! Geez I cant wait!!

**In my best valley girl voice** Like...I know right? Like...I cant even show my face at Starbucks anymore.

I don't want to make more miles than "necessary" on the SL. And my Tri became an unmanageable risk on public roads, just way too loud and important parts like tank, wheels, brake discs etc. not homolgated.

While reading this thread I ask myself now why not buying an 1199 for road fun and making the Tri track-only

The OP could always convert his 1199 to something "different" and call it brave and heroic. It seems to be popular at the moment.
