1199 maintenance ?

Just curious to see what the maintenance scheduling and cost is on the Ducati 1199 compared to the 1098/1198 models,, are the valve adjustments going to be in the same intervals as the previous models? or higher? Better technology comes with a cost right, repairs and maintaining your ride isn't cheap on a Ducati, I was just asking because a valve adjustment here is $1700+ on a 1098 at the shop here. Thx.

in short, you need to find a different dealer

Valve Check with us on a 1098 is 320.00. If you need adjustments it runs .25 hour on the opener .50 hour on the closer. Just about every bike we do needs 1 or 2 openers and a few closers adjusted. Our labor rate is 80.00 an hour so you can quickly see how 1700 is insane

Wow - even $1700 CAN is insane!

A full service, valves and belts, runs me less than $700US.

To answer your question, Ducati state that the Major Service periods for the 1199 will be doubled compared to the 1198 - bumped up from 7500 to 15000 miles.

Ok thank you,, this is a big part of my decision if I will buy the bike,, my Aprilia the valves have to be done at 21000 . more then twice the milage of the 1198 Ducati.
Now maybe I was having my chain pulled but I was told by a rider friend of mine that it was $1700 to have all the valve an shim adjustments done. as its what he said it was on his bike. Maybe there was more then just that. is it an engine out procedure ? sorry I'm not a mechanic. Though I have been told it is high from other Ducati riders.

The cost that you say is a little more sensible.
