Had fun last week and was able to rebuild the forks on my 1199! Overall not a complex process and have all new seals & fresh fluid... ready for tackdays this summer! 20230529_165614.jpg20230526_064450.jpg20230523_141952.jpg20230529_192822.jpg

that seal kit is like 350+ aint it? I paid my suspension guy 400 labor on top of that for a rebuild, and he also dyno'ed them as well.

could you share some more pictures and maybe some steps you took to do this work buddy?

thanks,
Jag

Unfortunately I didn't take too many pics of the process 😕.

You can buy two different kits directly from Ducati. Once is $180 and includes new seals and dust cover. The other includes a few more bits and is closer to $400, I just replaced the seals as already have the MUPO cartridges.

The process is fairly straightforward. Pull the forks, remove caps, then lock nuts from underneath.

Then dust seals, clip rings, pull upper and lower apart, replace seals, Reassemble.

Careful not to damage new seals, use correct grease, fluid, and set the right air gap for your application (I mostly followed Ducati shop manual).

It's tricky but not complicated, just important to clean and assemble properly.

There's two different kits you can get when you rebuild you forks, 1 is called the "seal kit" and this is the one I used. The other is called an "overhaul kit". Part numbers attached if you want to look them up (these are for the Marzocchi forks).
