Good to all

Perhaps a stupid question but i have to ask as i was not able to find a clear answer online. I am planning an oil change and got a K&N oil and air filter package. I saw on other threads that there is a crushable gasket and oil rings that come with an oil change kit. So my question is do i need to replace the crushable gasket and oil rings with every oil change or only if it is in bad shape.
Thank you.

I replace it every time. Crush washers & gaskets aren't more than a buck or two each and I prefer not leaving it to chance.

It's best practice to always change the Crush Washer on the drain bolt.

I assume the oil rings you refer to are in fact the 2 O-ring seals located on the oil filter cover. IMO, they are an optional replacement item as I have never replaced mine because there is plenty of pliability left in them, and as a result adequate crush is not an issue.
I do have a couple in stock ready for replacement in the event I deem the original set to be unserviceable. Service life of the O-rings ultimately depends upon how much heat they're subjected to and they will get too hard.

When refilling the oil only put in 3.5-3.55 litres in so as not to over fill the sump. (If you put in 3.7 litres of oil, it will be overfilled.)
This amount will get you very close to what you need then top up the oil if/as required when the engine is dead cold.
Check oil level in accordance with the Owners Manual.

Good day all responders. Many thanks for detailed explanation much appreciated.

Did any of gentlemen had experience with magnetized oil drain plugs. Does it make sense have you noticed any metallic particles on the magnet when doing oil change ? I am racing my bike in expert club races. Until now was doing most of maintenance at the shop but looking to do more and more myself.

My 1199 came with a magnetic drain plug in Canada. Each and every oil change there are metal particles on the magnet.
