So I just picked up a race seat for the 1199 and I took a short ride on it last night. I kind of feel like I'm on an SUV motorcycle so high up. I'm not a short guy around 5'11 but I feel I need to be more towards the front of the seat where I feel like there is space for my legs to go. I also kind of feel a little less connected to the bike on the race seat if that makes any sense.

Anyway how many of you have gone back to the stock seat after the race seat due to the height. I'm gonna try and put some more miles on the seat after I get my 600mi service and make a final judgement. Does the seat break in? I almost feel like maybe I'm not sitting on it right. I do love however how little I move about now and the cushin takes away from the bone jaring ride in the F setting.

I have a race seat and totally know where you are coming from. Although it has better grip, it makes me feel like I am sitting on the bike rather than in the bike...(If that makes sense). The race seat does seem to remove the smashing of your 'nads like the stock seat seems to provide.

I think the best plan is to recover the stock seat in Alcantra. A friend scored some of that stuff but I have yet to recover it.

But I am with you on your complaint.. I don't really love the race seat at all either.

I am putting the comfort seat on.. I have read threads about that and people here have said good things about it.. am putting on both rider and passenger comfort seats... u never know when a hot chick would want to ride with ya and the bike would be kicking u in the nuts for not being able to do so ;)

Damn... I just find it sketchy riding with chicks on the Panigale. I've done it a couple times but, try to avoid it unless she is very convincing.

I cut my DP racing seat down, just unstapled the cover, cut some of the foam out, and stapled the cover back on. Now it's only slightly taller than the stock seat but much more grippy.

I got my comfort seat today and would install it in the evening..
Hopefully it solves the problem of slipping & crushing...
:)

Comfort seat

When I demo'ed the bike it had the stock seat on it. When I picked up the bike (week or so later), mine already had the comfort seat installed. So its hard to make a comparison.

The part I remember the most on the demo bike was that every time I used the brakes at a moderate rate my balls paid for it against the tank. With the comfort seat I never move around, even hard braking or turning. That seat is the bomb.

They say its about .04 taller than stock. It seems a bit more, but totally not unbearable. I am 5'11" 185 and can put both feet flat on the ground. Its worth it to go to the comfort seat. I guarantee you will get used to it in a week.

Very good news for you my friend :
1. Your in jersey, depending how far it's easy for us to meet. (preferably in nyc)
2. You have race seat but complain of height nonetheless you like the fact it grips
3. I have the R seat which is the race seat but not as high.
4. We meet swap seats take a Lil ride if both parties are happy bingo!

Give it time . Sitting in the bike is old school be new school and stick with the race seat .
I was going to trim my seat down but after a few sessions and getting used to being propped up a little I would never go back to being a gumby old school guy .

I have a R... The stock R seat and the DP race seat are different.

I'm 5'11 145 lbs and the DP race seat seems fine to me, the stock seat was way to hard.

I have the race seat as well. It does make for riding for a riding *on* the bike feel unless you're on the track. Keeps your rear end planted further back. The front is not sloped towards the tank like the stock seat.

That said, I prefer the stock seat on the street and track for that matter.

I tried the confirm seat and it's no better...

Yeah I'm gonna try and find a local place to re-do my stock seat. But I'm gonna give this seat some time. The panigale is going to be my street bike so I gotta be as comfy as I can be lol.

I like this plan. I'm not far away man right outside of Morristown about 45 minutes from NYC. I don't know if I'd go INTO nyc on my bike I might have a heart attack LOL. I'd mail you my seat and you could mail me yours. Try it for a few days if you want yours back no problemo.

Will do. I'm gonna put some more miles on the seat and see what I think. I might be in NYC actually at BMW in Manhatten. I'm finalizing the paperwork for my HP4 that is coming next year.
