1199 Race Seat

So the race seat is higher by 1-2 inches and sits back rather than foward to the tank causing still some wrist pressure compared to the stock seat. And comfort.seat is appr same.height as race seat but lets u sit forward. Is this.accurate guys?
Thinking of the seat myself but I am looking for a more racier position perhaps 916-like racier rather than comfort
Thanks

I just installed comfort seat 2 days back..
I am 5'11" and the seat does fit like I m on the bike...
But somehow I feel less pressure on my wrist..
Took just 2 days to get used to the height/seating position and I dnt feel much change in handling..
Above all no slipping n crushing at all...
So far so good !!!
:)

I had the race seat after I had my S for a few months, and felt strange at first, the same way as the OP did. I liked it so much that when I got the R, I bought the race seat again and got rid of the stock R seat. I can't imagine riding without the race seat. It makes it very easy to move from the front to the back and keeps me there since there is no slope towards the tank. Plus it's a lot more comfortable than the stock seat on longer trips.

Give it a few weeks and I'm sure you'll love them.

Race seat is an improvement, no doubt, especially above the stock slippier seat. The race seat grips like a monkey and provides more insulation against engine heat. Not sure what this will do to the electronics underneath it, however, but I trust they thought about that. Cushion wise, there is more, but I hope to wear it in further as it is kinda flat stiff and pushes um on my gonads when laying forward, which angle it does also happens to increase as it sits you higher, resulting more flat ass- to - handlebar height. It pushes my feet higher off the ground and resultantly to the balls of my feet, but no problem here as I am used to dirt bike riding super tall-can't get my feet down without shifting to one side of the seat, but here, I am still able to straddle to bike upright. YMMV

I have an R and bought the race seat from day one. Street riding you feel the pressure on your wrist a bit. I haven't tracked it yet. I'm 6 ft and I'm sure the higher race seat allows you to raise the foot pegs for racing without you ruining the triangle of your foot, knee, hip position. You do feel like you on the bike as opposed to sitting in it like on the older Ducatis.

For those who tried the comfort seat: is it inclined towards the tank in any way? Does the position feel racy or just on-top-of-the-bike like the race seat?
Thanks guys
phil

I had the exact same problem with the race seat.
So I went back to the stock seat and covered it with the alcantra at the local shop.

The race and comfort seats are the exact same shape. No difference, not even a small one, in geometry. The seats are also covered in the exact same grippy material (forward of the red stitching on the comfort seat), so no difference in grip either.

The ONLY difference, is the race seat's padding is firmer. Which is why i find my friend's comfort seat more comfortable than the race seat i bought.

Nice heat insulation , but what that does to the electronics underneath? It would hold tons more heat on the brains of the bike no?

On a bicycle many tilt the seat forward thinking that it will save their privets, however it adds weight on the wrist's and puts extra strain on the your core. Tilting the nose up so the area you sit is level or slightly lower in the back is usually best. The stock seat on the 1199 is great as long as your accelerating but otherwise it works like it does on a bicycle. Bike fit is a personal thing and not all will like the same thing, however raising the nose should take weight of your wrist, which is what the race and comfort seat do.

Other treads have compared the two and it appears that their shape is the same.

I am assuming you are asking about the photos I up loaded? I have been riding for more than 1.5 yrs with that seat, and no problem with heat issues effecting any of the electronic equipment below. :)
