So we finished up our Panigale, at least I thought so:) because she is yet again sitting on the lift ready for more.

Here some pictures from start till now.

Fresh from the dealer and ready to take apart

5 Hours later

Radiator guards, very important :) so they went on right away

attachment.php

The seat was ready very quick.

attachment.php

DesmoPro coated some OEM parts for us within a few days.

Front calipers coated black are done as well

attachment.php

More black stuff came back from powder coater

The wheels are done but somehow the sample was a better red:) but nothing is permanent

The rotors have arrived, 70% lighter then OEM:D

So we thought we can try to see if we can do a cool exhaust, it's not so easy we found out.

attachment.php

That's what I wanted it to look like, kind of like that

attachment.php

Scratched the exhaust idea quickly and ceramic coated the OEM exhaust

attachment.php

Removed the exhaust valve and welded up the shaft, sounded already better

attachment.php

Bodywork started to come along

Home made tail chop, at that time none were available yet so went for it

attachment.php

Forks came back all black and good looking:)

attachment.php

Replaced the reservoir brackets and had the masters coated black as well as the clip-ons

attachment.php

Had an Ohlins damper that we coated and made a slight modification to so that it fit's the 1199 and the black uppers

Sweet looking bike! I do like the silver wheels with the overall color scheme. Nice job.

Bolted up some body work and a few more carbon parts here and there, hooked up the HID kit and ready to ride

2 weeks later the carbon tank did not like the Ethanol even with Caswell coating, so went back to the stock tank but the red had to go

attachment.php

Now the aluminum is all there, even so that it's ruff as hell but we can fix this with time and elbow grease and sanding dust over Thanksgiving

attachment.php

Many, many hours later with a new decal, clear coated satin and a tank guard as well as carbon gas cap it's all done and pretty looking

Time to match the wheels now yet again

Stripped the red of the wheels, spend a long day sanding and buffing and sanding and buffing....... A final coat of satin clear powder coat and they were all done. Yes that's the raw wheel, no silver paint.

All done and ready to ride, I thought:)

This is today 12/7, back on the lift. I just have to give that exhaust mod another try, let's see how far we get this time with our limited facilities:D
Probably won't work but you won't know till you try

Shifty - no offence, but I am thinking I like Bellis's transformation way better. I mean that seat cover in the first pic, is the only mod I would really need... :D

Nice work man. Thanks for posting.

How long do you think the coating on the forks will last?

prasen It will last forever, it's a special stuff that DesmoPro uses and he is doing parts for me for years already. It's super thin and super tuff stuff, just the perfect combination ( he won't tell me exactly what it is, lol) . The forks still slide through the triple clamps with no issue at all.

Trauma
No worries:), it would be boring if everything is just like the next and everything looks like the next one, I build the bike to my taste, it's my ride so I do it the way I want it to look. From time to time it works out well:D and at the end it's all a matter of taste. I hope we are going to see more custom bikes down the road, the more the better.

Thanks. I have a very similar color scheme planned, although Ill use a little less black than you and a little more silver :)

And best of luck with the exhaust mod - I am in the planning stages with my exhaust guys.

That's some great work. I love to see breakdowns like this :)

The silver tank is very nice, but I liked the black slightly more. Then with red wheels, you had the option to pick out a few more areas for red'ing. Just a thought.

Lastly, to my eye the S wheels seem to suit black, whereas all the base wheels I've seen look better recoloured. Strange huh.

Congrats on the finished (for now) piece :)

i think you missed my point, I was referring to the pic of the model on the bike!!! :D :D

Love what you did! Ditchin' the red wheels was unavoidable...although I admire the bravery it took to try!

About stripping the tank: Is that something a semi-talented do-it-yourselfer could succeed at? I really like how yours ended up, but the idea of applying the first smidgen of paint stripper makes my balls shrink:rolleyes:

Did you see on Ebay there is a Marchesini Forged Mag set with the carbon brakes? My dream setup, but for a 1198!
